Perkolator Guest | CarPC, you need GDivX Player, the v1.9.9.6 should work a treat, the latest is GDivX Zenith v1.2 tho'
And VLC it’s the only player that you can carry in a USB pendrive that will play MOST videos & sound files without any codecs installed. And I say most common ones, not esoteric crap here, for weird files it’s up to you to use weird players and codecs...

gokudomatic Guest | even now, i think the best video player is still mplayer. it does everything except having a sweetie GUI. even where vlc has sometimes problems with my videos, mplayer can read them.
If I need to adjust the audio time, I didn’t found anything as easy as mplayer to correct this. for watching grabbed flv videos, vlc can’t fastforward but mplayer managed to do it somehow(not perfect). when there are troubles with mkv and subtitles (mpc and vlc can’t see them), mplayer can still find all the existing tracks.
but in the counterpart, there are some cases where mplayer crashes but not vlc. but the statistics make still mplayer the big winner. personally, what I dislike in mplayer is the lack of a good graphical launcher where you can choose all the params. default config functionality isn’t enough because some guys who think that’s a good idea to not follow the standards create videos with audio tracks with non standard names (sometimes “english”, sometimes “en” or “eng”, sometimes “anglais”, ...). nice idea to vary sometimes but we don’t need it.
