voices and sound out of sinc

hi /downloaded simpsons 3rd series they came down as windows movies but when i play them sound is all distorted/out of sinc, picture is fine though but they seem to play alright in media player classic looking for a way to fix this as i need to encode them to dvd and burn them, so any ideas on this problem, also whats the best to encode them with.many thanx wilsie.
