New to TV Capture/General Questions NOOB

I just bought a Haupaugge WIN TV Go PCI card. Using the Win2000 TV Software that came with the card is horrible. 10 minutes of video can be more than 1 GB and the quality just flat out stinks. I used an older version of Show Shifter and the quality is still bad. I guess what I want to know is what programs should I use to capture video and then convert to DIVX or XVID blah blah blah....??? General NOOB questions and if anyone can give me any tips/pointers I’d very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I use iuVCR though it is recomandet to use WinXP
anyway I used thin prog while I was on Win98 and didn’t have any problem, but now I do, can’t open the program, probably because I installed a newer version to which the crack doesn’t work...

anyway this prog was one of the best that I could find on the web, the quality of capturing is awesome comparing to other progs
