Sophie Guest | Hi, I got a panasonic DMC-FX01 camera and as I saw now all the videos I take with it are in quicktime format.
My problem is that I don´t find a good software to convert them to windows movie files. I like to use windows media maker to cut my videos. Does anyone of you know how can I convert all my quicktime-movies easy, good quality and hopefully free?
Thanx a lot for any help! Cheers, Sophie

file confused Guest | i have the same problem as movie maker did.
i have a Kodak easyshare Z710.
and i recorded some video clips on a trip.
i wanted to edit them in windows movie maker.
alas, they were .mov files. so i’ve used various
file converters mention in previous posts and can only
get the video to play in wmm and no sound. no sound at all.
i’ve tried converting the .mov files into .wmv and .avi
but nothing works.
any ideas?

Michael A III Guest | Spend the 30 bucks for winAvi.
My son had a school project that had to be ready for MovieMaker. We used our Nikon digital camera that put out .mov files. ( At this point he could have done it at home on iMovie but the teacher insisted on using Movie Maker in class. I guess to kill some instruction time.) At midnight I tried the trial version of winAvi. No dice. At 12:30 a.m. I reached for my Visa and got the full version. Converting them to .wmv files is what worked. .avi failed to do the job. There are a couple of covec downloads you may need as well. winAvi offers a prompt telling you specifically what you need. I found them through an easy Google search.
Good luck.

I don’t like Quicktime player either for many reasons. Also I cannot work with the .mov extensions when working with my video program.
But using the free RADTool you can convert from .mov to .avi
I believe there’s a slight degree in quality but it’s acceptible.

simplesam Guest | Amazing how one simple question turns into a senseless diatribe on what format is better. Just answer the dang question if you want to help. He didn’t ask “which format is better? .wmv or mov.?"
He asked how to convert from .mov to .wmv

Daniel Combs Guest | Because the Microsoft Zune does not recognize most Quicktime formats, only some. I have some QT movies from theforce.net and they wont sync with my Zune.
