Joe Santsingh Guest | Message 1 to John with kodak easy share: Use Mpeg Streamclip (Open Source software) to convert your footage to avi or mpeg 4 format and powerpoint should read it. Read the blurb in Streamclip’s FAQ about using QuickTime alternative when you download streamclip. It suggests also downloading a program called QT Alternative instead of Apple’s QuickTime. This allows Streamclip to read the QT format. FYI, mpeg 4 will make the file size nice and small. while (uncompressed) avi will/could make file size significantly bigger.. But both avi and mpeg4 will work fine in PowerPoint - I have done it many times. My preference is mpeg 4 for everyday runof the mill powerpoint where you dont need full screen footage.
Message 2 to TUDA: Use Mpeg Stramclip to convert footage to either DV file or avi file and moviemaker will be able to import it. TUDA, like I said in the above message to John with Kodak easy Share, read the blurb in Streamclip FAQ about using QT Alternative.
Hope this helps. I am in the education sector and I find this program very handy when converting our Kodak camera’s mov files for importing into PowerPoint presentations. Its Open Source and so its free!!

Dont you guys ever read. 90% of the postings on this thread ask exactly the same question. There are dozens and dozens and dozens of posts with replies to the same question. Why do we bother replying to anyting. How about taking this thread to a new level. Lets get to codecs and bit rates within this topic. We could move on to VBR and CBR coding mode instead of the same old questions.

Why do people hate PC geeks and loves Macs? Because PC geeks are more interested in pointing out trivialities no one cares about even as they evade the original question. They are the people who spend eight week calculating how many micorgrams of salt go into the perfect hamburger, but at the end of the day produce something no one wants to eat.

You are wrong in that post. I am a Mac user and I have Windows XP and Mac OS X running side by side on the same computer. First people with PCs do not need Quicktime because there are two other options to avoid the need to convert and those are Realplayer and a VLC Media player because either one will play Quicktime format (.mov) without needing to convert them. If anyone wants to convert .mov to .wmv or .mov, there is a free program from erightsoft called SUPER, you can find it at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

In the beginning it was fine, but after an install of XP Office 2 the video capture always has PICVideo at the top and WWW.JPG.COM at the bottom and it won’t go away. How do you stop that from appearing on the video capture screen and recording on WMM. Yes i’ve tried uninstalling SP2 and restoring to a previous point but nothing seems to work....why would it be happening now

cathcam Guest | thanks for the suggestions. My Minolta digital camera saves movies as qyicktime. I need to import them into movie maker but it doesnt support that format.
How can I convrt quicktime to movie maker compatible format? While I wait I will try your suggestions.

Suzanne Guest | Thanks all you geeks for the help. I was at my wits end trying to read through all the jargon on the web. Then I decided to google it, after hours, I downloaded the AVS video converter. True, in the trial version it puts a reference to their product and says its unregistered, but I guess its worth $30, to finish my presentation., I;m just glad to find something that works with my QT camera files. Thanks again. I should have “Googled” my problem to start with.
