Can you use Windows Media Player to view an avi file and an srt file together? (Assuming that DirectVobSub is already downloaded)

For VLC users. I still sometimes get an error message but if you go to the video menu, and you can choose subtiltes track, setting it to track 1 can sometimes do the trick.

Im actually having some trouble reading a .sub file. Same problem as “zhieeep”. Also same exact movie which makes me think the subtitles files might be corrupted or something.

If you have Subs for nobody knows. CD1 & CD2. Hit me up. stabba nospam @ mtldnb.com or AIM: Stabba inc

Download the codec here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/Storm_Codec_download.htm

Just click next throughout the installation process. very simple.

As for the .srt file, just copy and paste your video file and add .srt at the end of your subtitle file.

Example:

Name of your video is spiderman, then you should name the srt file spiderman.srt

What if I want to make it into a DVD. How do I include subtitles in it? Let’s say I have an *.avi file and *.srt file?

i got WinXP using VLC. i read this thread and got the .srt to work.

Open VLC
Go to “Settings” and down to “Preferences..."
Under “General Settings” highligt “Subpictures”

I unchecked “Autodetect subtitles files”
Then used the Browse option for the “Use subtitle file” to get the .srt subtitle file to work. And ofcourse it’ll only work with the matching .avi file.

Thanks Everyone this whole thread helped me figure it out. Hope This helps someone out. PEACE!

I forgot to add that you must check the “advanced option” box on the bottom right. To browse for the “use subtitle file” option.

Hi I was searching to find out what .SRT files were and came across this Page and now that I know the files are subtitles files, Would ConvertXtoDvd do the job you require
I know it has a Subtitle tab and has a selection of Languages and fonts to select from.

All the Best GSx

Moonwatcher, any ways of combining the files with the subtitles, and then burning to dvd??
Don’t have many movies with this problem, but would like to watch a couple of foreign movies.
tnx.
