asw and muqeet, aparently there is no way to directly convert .dem to avi files, seems that the only way to do it is just playing the demo in the game (lets say Americas army ...open console and type: open yourfile.dem)
I usually start the fraps first the just hit one key to start the record (F9 i think is default).
Although yoru file is gonna be huge if is a complete round seems to be the only way, if u find something diferente plz post here!! lol

BOA you’re a twat ... Macs do NOT come with 8mb RAM ... WTF!!!

My Mac has 2GB of RAM - I bet that’s more than your shitty PC dude...and my processor is 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ~ 3.4GHz... so shut your immature mouth.

As for the .DEM files - anyone got a work around?

Ok
Fraps only works for 30 seconds, and you cant use moviemaker to put the clips toghter because it will not save fraps edited movies
So after i record with drpas how do i put them toghter to make a video?

lol owned, bugs right. the Windows Media Encoder is the best way to go. Fraps and game cam are scrubby and have crappy fps which makes the movie look like its lagging. so check out the Windows Media Encoder here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx
theres some other editing software on there you just gotta know where to look. gl hf mb nubs

Fraps only works for that long becasue its the trial version. go to 9down.com or somthing and get a crack for the full version or buy it and it will go as long as you want, but id go with sarge cause Windows Media Encoder owns and hes a g from what i hear

i think it would be better if u explain it step by step of how to play the .dem file... why they saved the replay in .dem file instead of saving it in normal format so that people can watch the replay using media player without having to download this bla bla, install this install that bla bla..

You guys should go get Fraps, it only records lke 30 seconds at a time if you download the trial version, if you want to though, you can buy the full version and record as long a mivie as you can. I dont know exactly where to get it at, but just google it.

I will give you detailed instructions.

1.) You need to make a movie of you playing css or cs...do this by typing record nameoffile <name of file is anything u want to name.

2.) now you have a demo of you playing css or cs...but its only counter strike data not a movie.

3.) you now need to download a program called fraps which will take 30 pictures every second of that demo.

4.) after fraps has made all the pictures you will need a video editing program that will put all of these pictures into sequence...esentially thats what a movie is....24 +pictures a second to make it look smooth.

5.) after you have made your movie you can add in music or change the resolution of the movie..

6.) youre done i hope that helped...any other questions @ americanshaolin@hotmail.com

BugSpray wrote: Wat has the world come to. U r all idoits. As i said. *.dem files do not contain any audio or video data. it just contains, the way points of you movements, the reactions, the map data and the *.wads used(textures). They r not reconised formats for any media player apart from counter strike its self.

For the love of god read your first two sentences.
You’re calling others idiots? Please look at your spelling and grammar and maybe next time proof-read?

I cannot play my demo files... when I input command “playdemo” “name” it just locks the game up, and sends me to desk top. Doesnt tell me what the error is or anything, its just as if I am closing TFC myself. Someone please help...
