A bit lost.....

I have two xvid avi files. I would like to join them. The joiner software says that the video is different.
One is XviD MPG-4 576x320 25fps 16 bit
Other is same but 24 bit.

Can I convert the first avi to 24 bit, or vice versa. And if so, using what type/kind software.
