Hi

I’m trying to play an avi - but unable to hear audio ... this is the message I get...

The audio codec identified by the format tag 6771 is required to play this file.

... and I’ll be damned if I can find 6771 anywhere!

Any help would be appreciated.

Joe

I downloaded the Ogg Vorbis pack, and it still doesn’t identify the Sound Codec. Is there anyway to register the codec manually? Or is there another codec getting confused with Ogg Vorbis?

I am running Windows XP Professional Edition.

I was able to fix it, by downloading vorbisacm_20020708.zip from http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA012897/

Unzip the file, look for vorbisacm.inf, right click it and choose Install

I found that you need a AC3 codec if you get an error message about “Tag 8182”.
You can download it at: http://www.divxmovies.com/faq/#4.4

Would you consider your PC a fast one or a slow one? Older PCs tend to have problems with video and audio sync.

As for the ogg vorbis disk, choose to browse and select the same folder where you unzipped the files.

You might have too many codec packs installed in your PC. Try uninstalling all those codecs which are hardware specific or incompatible with other codecs.

Slow audio, might also be a result of a lack of available memory (RAM). Check how much free memory you have and how many programas run at startup.
