ras171 Guest | I have downloaded a movie avi in e-mule but i want to convert it to mpeg i used TMPGE but it cashes a the start of each file. why is this. Will i have to combine the files with something and then split them. The files split as they are do not fit on 700MB discs(first file anyway).
Please help.

TMPGEnc doesn’t convert them because they’ve got AC3 audio probably.
TMPGEnc needs to be set up correctly before converting the files.
First set the VFAPI settings:
Options>Environmental setting>VFAPI plug-in and raise 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' (right-click-Higher priority) to 2 or 4, so it’s at the top of the list.
What AC3 filter have you got installed? A specific version of the Moonlight Odio Dekoda is needed for TMPGEnc to use for converting the audio.
Also, have you got any codec packs installed? Uninstall all codec packs and all versions of XviD and DivX. Uninstall any AC3Filter or AC3 codec also.
Now install:
- 3ivX (http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html)
- Moonlight Odio Dekoda (http://www.movieking.co.uk/files/index.php?action=file&id=5)
Then open your movie into TMPGEnc and see how it goes. If there’s any error again, please say what the exact error is.

lamby77 Guest | Try using 'avi2vcd' to convert AVI files to VCD compliant MPEG1. It will split the file for you and it also includes a program to decompress the audio if it is compressed (this has to be done first as compressed audio cannot be handled). Then create the Video CD as normal.

Grizzly Guest | I post here because i see u talk TMPGEnc too.
I can’t play movies encoded by TMPGEnc. What codec should I use? I’ve tryed VFAPI Reader Codec 1.05
but it has no efect. I’ve tryed again by installing ACE Mega CoDecS Pack - ProXP 5.01.0231, and something changed: i have image and sound, only that are both like jamed.
Please help me.
