Manc Mike Guest | Just a quick thank you for the help from here!
Had picture but no sound then tried the following and worked a treat:
1. download, extract and install the following http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip
2a. then go to start, run and paste the following regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm
2b. then go to start, run and past the following
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax
3.press enter, now try playing the file.
after step 3 i got an error message that things didn’t work. so, i re-downloaded the l3codecx.ax file from:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0254531101/l3codecx.ax
Key was downloading the l3codecx.ax which my computer couldn’t find and puttin it in windows/system32. then repeat step 2b
Thnaks a lot guys!
P.S. nice to see a forum where u dont need to do a huge register process!

Stuart Guest | Hi, You guys are a fount of knowledge and have helped me no end in the past but this time I’m really stuck. Ive followed the advice given above to the letter, installed and reinstalled various codec packs, downloaded and done the start/run thing for l3codec.acm and .ax files and both times it told me it was successfull, ive downloaded bsplayer and vlc and nothing works! I would really appreciate any more ideas you may have or even some more details about what worked for you. Thanks.

Johnny1 Guest | I tried all the suggestions on here but to no avail. I yelled at the computer and stormed out of the room. I came back later and wouldn’t you know it, it worked. Oh good I thought I’ll watch Lost later on. Little did I realize that the audio and video were out of sync. Now they are out of sync on everyvideo file I have no matter what I open it with. I can’t watch anything like this! Can someone help?

PegaxS Guest | For anyone having a problem using the activation sequence, you need to install the mp3 codec listed in this forum.
http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip
Once installed the codec you need to activate them...
regsvr32.exe l3codeca.acm
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax
If you have any problems running either of these commands, you need to find the files and move them into the correct folder. I spent about 30 mins trying to work out why they were not activating and getting errors. The reason is that l3codecx.ax and l3codeca.acm both need to reside in your X:\Windows\System32 folder on your systems main operating system drive. Once you have copied the files (not cut and paste them...) you can then run the activation..
Short of that, google up the files mentioned above and copy them into your windows\system32\ directory and run the commands again!
Worked for me, and fixes the Tag 85 error.

heeja Guest | thank you ^u^
I had this problem too and after following four pieces of advice (dl Mpeg3 codec, the Codec 3.0 or 2.8, Theorica DivX ;-) Codecs, FHG Radium Codec and running regsvr32.exe l3codeca.acm &
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax) I found nothing worked but then all I had to do was restart my computer. haha so I’m not sure which codec did it for me but it’s all good in the end.
Also i found that when trying to run
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax
l3codecx.acm and l3codeca.acm are interchangeable
hope this helps
