KJ Guest | I did everything, but when I run the “regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm” a message comes up saying
" 13codecx.acm was loaded, but the
DllRegisterServey entry point was not found. 13codecx.acm does not appear to be a .Dll or .OXC file."
What do I do now?

Benjamin Guest | Hi all,
I’ve tried the solutions above and unfortunately cannot register the l3codecx.ax file. This seems to be because, despite having downloaded and run three different Layer-3 codec installers, that file does not exist on my hard drive. I’ve looked in the system32 folder, where you’d expect it to be, and also done a search on the whole drive; I don’t have this file and therefore I cannot register it.
Any ideas why it won’t install? The other file that you’ve advised to register manually was installed manually and registered fine...

stellargrrl Guest | thanks - the advice here really helped me
one thing i wanted to add was that i followed the steps you suggested but had to change them slightly to make things work for me. your steps were so helpful, i wanted to post my changes in case they help.
1. download, extract and install the following http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip
2a. then go to start, run and paste the following regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm
2b. then go to start, run and past the following
regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax
3.press enter, now try playing the file.
after step 3 i got an error message that things didn’t work. so, i re-downloaded the l3codecx.ax file from:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0254531101/l3codecx.ax
i then redid the steps and things worked!
thanks again!

don’t know why - just know that it worked

Wendy Guest | Hello! well i’ve done what you recommended...and it didn’t work eigther... I’ve solved the problem just by installing a new film player... i don’t want to make publicity of it...but Videolan really works... it may not be as pretty as divx player... but you can run everything even without codecs...
well i hope this idea can help someone else... forgieve my english please... see u and thanx for everything.

EXTRACT the file and you’ll be well on your way...

constant Guest | "The following way does work”
“1. download, extract and install the following http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip”
No problem with step one. Done: downloaded and run to end, claims installation is complete.
“2. then go to start, run and paste the following regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax”
Error message:
RegSvr32
LoadLibrary(“l3codecx.ax” failed - The specified module could not be found.

pimmie Guest | When I type regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm and after that regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax in the start-run menu, the following message appears:
“The charging of memory (l3codec.ax) has failed. Cannot find given up module."
(translated from dutch to english)
Does somebody know what to do???
I already installed the mp3codec!!!

mr.tom Guest | I followed all instructions above and downloaded a few different mp3 codecs all to fix the tag 85 error. Before i got the official divx player i had ace divx which i loved only it didnt play somethings. Now it doesnt play anything. And i never had problems with my divx player until yesterday. Yesterday it didn’t play two files i had because it had an unknown audio source. Today none of my files played audio.
