Converts and no sound

Converted an AVI clip (video:Xvid, audio:mpeg-1 layer 3) to VCD and also DVD formats and lost the sound in both cases. I looked at the converted clips in GSPOT and inboth cases it said the audio and video codecs were “n.a.". What next?
Also, if your DVD player can play VCDs then there’s really no sense converting your video into DVD format, right? You’re not gaining anything.

Please adjust the AC3Flitter to have a try!
By the way, have you ever tried winavi video converter http://www.winavi.com? And the winavi can convert avi to vcd/dvd perfectly.
