paopaooboy Guest | How to fix a “Codec 75” error
Whenever I tried to play videos from one particular site, I got an error about a missing codec that couldn’t be found or downloaded, which was called “codec 75." When I tried to search for it, I discovered a lot of other people were having the same problem. If you keep getting this error, first check to make sure you have an updated version of your player (I have Windows Media Player 9). If it still shows the error (which mine did), it may be this: the security defaults of Internet Explorer can prevent a player from downloading a necessary codec.
This is how I fixed it:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools in the browser
3. Then to Internet Options
4. Click the Security tab
5. Then go to Custom Level
6. Under “Active Controls and plug-ins,"
Enable “Download unsigned activeX controls”
It will download the code by media player itsself. |
