stinki Guest | i have had no real difficulty getting an avi with DTS audio to PLAY — easy enough with vlc or windvd or with the ac3filter or with cole’s pack etc...
BUT
converting the avi to mpeg-2 has not been easy. even with cole’s pack installed, ac3filter, ffdshow etc...any mpeg2 encoder i try just creates a .mpg file with a silent audio track...and virtualdub will only let me save the audio track as-is to a file, it can’t figure out how to process it and thus can’t convert it to wav. i saw a post earlier in this thread about using virtualdub to save the dts audio track (just a stream copy, no processing/converting) and renaming the file extension to ac3 and using an ac3 convertor to then convert the file to wav, but none of the convertors i’ve tried like this file, they know it’s not an ac3 file. maybe my codex/xforms etc just arent communicating the way they should, and this works for some people, but in any case...
i just found a work around! play the avi file in winamp with winamp’s output set to the diskwriter voila, a wav! that i can now use in my mpeg2 encoder or dvd authoring program...
hope maybe this helps somebody else..
