Recently I updated my packages to include ffdshow’s new DTS feature which allows SPDIF pass through on DTS, it will show on an external amp as AC3 but it works fine.
@ lyliakar
BeSweet should be able to transcode from DTS using my package, I’ve done it once... for the fun of it, but arent really in the habit of transcoding DTS.
thanks to all for the thanks

ajocius Guest | Dear Cole,
I have tried both: Audio codec pack from your page, also ac3filter_1_01a_rc1.exe. What I tried to listen was DTS audio file from Swedish radio 5.1 channels examples. I have downloaded them from following page http://www.sr.se/multikanal/english/e_index.stm
Actually I have spent all day searching net to find the right codec, but still can not play those DTS audio files. I have Creative SB Live 5.1 with 5 + 1 loudspeakers and try to listen this music over my computer. I have read a lot of advices on how to burn it as a music CD and listen on DVD player and receiver handling DTS signal, but I do not such a receiver. I tried to burn wav file to CD and play through DVD which has DTS sing on it (so I assume it recognizes the format)but then I only had stereo receiver. Stil I thought I should get some stereo sound? However I think PC should be enough to listen to this music, as long as I find the right codec. Am I right?
Can someone help me please with this?

ajocius Guest | Hei All,
It all started with sounds through all channels after I installed winDVD 6!!! Apperantly this software decodes DTS signal and then sends to all 6 loudspeakers that I have.
It is a lot of fun.

The files you downloaded are for DTS audio CD’s, there is no codec that will play them directly at the moment, but yes they do work in WinDVD after you’ve put them onto CD.
Not many players support audio DTS CD’s or Dolby Digital CD’s.
They should not be confused with non wav DTS files or movies which will play as long as a compatible codec is installed.

lol451 Guest | Nice, it works great !
I’ve dled the swedish radio 5.1 examples and burned them (audio cd) with nero, then read on a H&B DX-3255 player (DVD-MPEG4-XVID-VCD,... compliant) and plug the spdif out to my home theater.
But, when I try to use the 5.1 analog outs of my player, nothing happens. I tried to configure the audio setup, and nothing ...
When I read a DVD-video, the analog outs are working.
Any idea ?

I had a quick look at the spec of your player, DTS support was stated as being downmixed on it, chances are it only supports DTS in a downmix to stereo.
You could upgrade your player or get an external DTS decoder (pretty rare), however I’d say it’s not viable considering DTS isn’t very popular.
Aren’t the same files available in Dolby Digital?... they should work better on your player.

Thank you Cole Guest | Thanks cole.. I extremely appreciate you taking your time to help people out in the way that you have. I downloaded the audio codec from your site and the DTS .avi film works perfectly. I had tried all these others forums, saying to uninstall, reinstall, blah blah blah. When I found this thread, I was at my limit and was at the point to delete the dam thing and get it in XViD. But, low and behold, it works perfectly now!!!.. Thanks alot. and Happy New Year.

You were right. I burned a DVD (music compilation in .ac3 & still images) all my six analog outputs work together now.
Best regards

zdaxxy Guest | COLE is a big ASS. If i had a match on me i’d burn that site to the ground. You have to jump thru hoops to attempt to download anything and all mirrors point directly back to the same bullshit page. Cole can burn in hell and shove the codec up his ass for all I care. Stop being a pussy and just link the file you dickhead!

Sergiu Guest | Hey everyone!
I have the same problems as some of you with a movie (audio codec tag 2001, no sound). The surprising fact is that it played fine on my computer at the office through the latest ffdshow decoder (which I enabled to decode anything it can), so this seems to be the easyest way. I will try some of the solutions posted in this thread (except for codeck packs, I hate filling my system with trash), but ffdshow is not a bad option, so you can try it on your files too.

Sergiu Guest | I have also tried ac3filter_1_01a_rc5.exe and it works too, so this really isn’t much of a problem anymore.

Fixed Guest | Re: no sound in avi file
I only tried this solution but it worked for the avi file I was having trouble with. Looks like release candidate 5 of an upcoming AC3filter release:
http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/download/ac3filter_1_01a_rc5.exe
Hope it helps.
(Incidentally, when I run videoinspector it still says I don’t have the correct codec installed so YMMV)
