kimpossible Guest | THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! After I installed the Quicktime and itunes6 combo, my QT stopped working properly and all I got was this blown out mostly white screen during playback (but no error code or anything). Reinstalling QT didnt work (obviously) and the Apple website was no help (it makes you think your computer is missing some driver file or something). I FREAKED OUT since I had a bunch of QT files to preview before morning. Luckily I “googled” 'quicktime white screen' and came up with this thread! I tried the safe mode and everything works fine. I have no idea who you people are but GOD BLESS YOU!

Janey Guest | Thanks TC for this ........
<snip> .......... Next I went to Quicktime Video Settings and selected “Safe Mode (GDI Only)". This will automatically disable DirectDraw and DirectDraw Acceleration for you. This solution works for me. <snip>
And for me too ..... your input saved me lots of frustration.

Jackandblue Guest | Exactly the same issue for me, and the “Safe Mode” solution worked great. So why did this happen? It was never a problem before, but suddenly was an issue?

Andy Wallace Guest | I’m trying to watch a clip my friend sent me on cd and can’t open the file, it’s says the following;
QuickTime cannot open the file: “Dragon’s Den.mpg”
it is not a file that QuickTime understands (-2048)
Would somebody please be able to offer me any advice on why this is occurring? This would be a massive help,
Thank you,
Andy
