>> It doesnt matter about the container, the avi can still be changed to asf using vidtoasf - a command line program.
In this case he’s trying to do asf to avi, not the other way around. But 1. There’s no means of making M4S2 in WME 9 (I suppose you could make MP4S then change the fourcc later). 2. Even if you could, you can’t convert the resulting WMV (M4S2 or MP4S) to AVI (see my post on 07 Aug 2005 07:04 am, second paragraph).

When done compiling, all you need to do is change teh *.WMV to *.ASF
HOWEVER, there is no audio yet.

Jodoman Guest | yes you can convert asf to avi. I have used this to convert windows media files. Its with a program called asftools. Here is the link:
http://p2pzone.rouben.net/p2pzone/downloads/asftools310.zip
Keep in mind that later versions of aiptek cameras run video at 30fps. I dont think the DV4500 can do that. AVIcodec is saying that the files generated by my camera are between 4 and 6 fps.......i think thats pretty crazy, because it prevents any sort of full motion video. I would guess that the framerate is somewhere over 15, but i do not know for sure...

I only checked your clip on PC (you used ffmpeg to make it right?) It played all garbled in WMP (and all other players too). I saw in a hex editor it’s XVID/XVID. It still played garbled when I converted it to AVI using ASFTools (even in VirtualDub). I changed the original ASF’s fourcc’s to M4S2/M4S2 and it works fine. (I don’t have a camera though - I presume that’s what you wanted spin to check out, right?)
For kicks I changed the original ASF to MP4S/MP4S too. It played fine (the image was good) too but froze in the middle (though I can keep it playing if I drag the seek bar past the freezing point)

HYBRID CAMERA WEBSITE (ASF)
I created a website with a forum. I hope people come there, because the forum has anonymous login (sign up optional). You can post clickable links and I think it is a little easier than this forum.
I plan on hosting files for download, that is, if anybody got them. Software too.

Alright, what camera (brand / Model) do you have and what progress have you made in playing back files so far?
I want to create a table on my website based on camera brand and what solutions are possible.
Please post here or at my website.

you need 3gp_converter
http://www.nurs.or.jp/~calcium/3gpp/3GP_Converter031.zip
Open the zip file, setup for english and SD ASF....experimental
Set the output file folder
Open the transcoding file and where you see Command0”".....)
change the next settings
-vtag XVID
-acodec adpcm_ms
Drag and drop your video file into the empty box of the program, and wait.
That s all
If you want to know what the variables means go to
http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/ffmpeg-doc.html
I hope you can understand my poor english
By the way your homepage is quite good
See you | |

whoisit98 Guest | Hybrid Camera - Vivitar 390H 20 Gig H/drive
I got it working, using 3gp converter using the MP4S codec, and adpcm_ima_wav, though I get crackling in the audio.. other than that I’m a happy chappy

I am mot sure, maybe, changing the aspect relation.
-s 640x480
@whoisit98
i have the same problem but i solved using multimedia converter (mustek software) but first you must encode the video file with windows media encoder 9 for pocket PC.
You must be patient with multimedia converter.
It works like a video recorder and your PC proccesor has to be fast ( more than 1 G
I have encoded succesfully some recorded TV shows with this procedure .I hope you have success

can you tell me what you did with the Vivitar, so I can write a tutorial for my website? Do you have a tutorial or a special 3GP INI file?
Check it out, still under construction...

@ metoo
I tried the -s 360x480 and the camera rejects it for some reason. I have to try to se if the frame rate is causing the problem.
Any suggestions on quantizing? I tried -qmax and -qmin, but see no difference in quality at all.
