The Kingbee Guest | Glad I could help Glenn did you follow the guide exactly? I made some revisions with the help of someone else hopefully you can still access it since I did not change the name. Using my process they only thing that causes the psychadelic video as far as I know is if the video has a frame rate of 10. Bump the frame rate up to 11 and it should fix it. You are correct about the .ASF files not being the same so the computer will attempt to find a codec to play them with, but don’t worry the files should work fine on the camera. slick Guest | Metoo: I’ve got the Mustek software, but it’s really very poor. I would recommend trying Kingbee’s method first, assuming hosting can be found.
If anyone can suggest a good place to upload, I’ll attempt to put the Mustek software there for you.

But , i have not been able to get an excellent quality in the image.On the other hand,

The Kingbee Guest | Metoo I have updated the guide in regards to better video quality on the camera. Use the resize filter to make the video resolution 640x480 and the video will look MUCH better. I think the file is up and working right now but I’ll give tripod a shot too and emule. Thanks for the help!

On the other hand, let me tell you that i use a software named Power Video Converter in order to convert my videos to the avi format and that is compatible with the audio codec needed for my DV5300 and let me save some steps (about the sound) of your amazing tutorial.

OOops ....well let me try to explain to you the procedure i use for my wireless
camera videos .
1.-Open Power Video Converter.
2.-Select Convert Files Tag.
3.-Add your video.
4.-Select AVI/xDiv/MPEG4 on Video files output format tag.
5.-Change the frame rate to 5 or 6 (maybe you need to test another one).
6.-Select any microsoft video compressor you have installed on your PC.(optional)
7.-Select IMA ADPCM as audio compressor.
8.-Click on Done and execute tags.
9.-Open the file created with Virtualdub
10.-Follow all the indications from the Kingbee’s Tutorial but without including
the step 5.

Mike in Missouri Guest | I bought an EUJOY MCatch VIDEO/STILL/MP3/VOICERECORDER unit ($52 including shipping at geeks.com). I was planning on converting movies to a compatible video format. But after two evenings of trying to find the right combo, I think I’ll give up and just make a holder to hold it in front of a TV monitor and just record with the MCatch. I tried a short video this way and the playback is acceptable for killing time in airports or other places. I was on this thread because the MCatch is ISO MPEG-4 v1 and IMA ADPCM. I tried the MS Media Tools and POWER VIDEO CONVERTER. Looks like PVC is a nice program and I’ll use it for aother videos, but I can’t get it to work for the MCatch.

Been trying to figure out video on my mustek pvr-a1.
Since I’m on linux i’m using ffmpeg.
I’ve used all adpcm_* codecs for audio and all mpeg4 related codecs for video. The best video results are similar to above in that they are rather blocky and colorful but it is only barely possible to determine that they are indeed based on the video. I still haven’t heard anything so I’m thinking that the audio codecs are bad. I’m working on writing a shell script to covert my sample input to ALL output codec (I’ve got a 1GB card for the pvr so this should be possible). Any other thoughts?

I’ve decided to go full force and use ALL codecs capable or encoding for both audio and video under ffmpeg. The generated shell script (which will be used to generate all the test videos) is 135MB which means I’ll be using my external 300GB drive to store the test videos. With so many options I expect it will take a good couple weeks to get through testing all the inputs but I’ll come back here and update when I finish that.

The Kingbee Guest | To Tim: Tim before I figured out my method for getting video on the Hybrid Cams, I had attempted using FFMPEG but I would always get the same results your getting. I finally figured out that ffmpeg was not puting the video into a proper .ASF container. Unfortunatley you can’t use Vidtoasf (made by Microsoft) which is what I use to convert video in the .AVI container to .ASF If you have access to a Windows Machine try using that. Also setting Keyframes to 1 seems to be critical for getting video to play back cleary for these devices.

slick Guest | This is actually pretty close to Kingbee’s solution, bearing in mind that the RealMagic codec is actually the Xvid codec, which is itself basically an opensource implementation of DivX. “Purists” would argue that it’s a better quality solution, but since we’re on such a tiny screen I don’t think you can even begin to argue about this.
