JAMES, get the 3GP 3.1 converter here...

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3nvj6/AIPTEK/index.html

And also learn how to import your videos there too.

I bought a Palm Tungsten E2 for 100 bux that I won in an auction on Ebay. This Palm computer includes a 2” x 2.5” color display with 64k colors.

This computer holds a 1 gigabyte SD card that I already owned. It plays movies that I download from the net or videos I create with my Grandvision Cooldv 550 video camera. I can put over 6 hours of video on this computer and play it. It will play MJPEG videos with wit ha player called TCPMP. It will also play MPEG 4 videos as well. I keep one of my favorit movies “The Natural” with Robert Redford on the 1 gigabyte SD card and out on other movies and videos as I want them.

So for another 100 bux you have somethign better than an ipod that plays full length movies and music videos but can get used many other ways like a computer. It has bluetooth wireless access to a main computer or public bluetooth access point.

You can play games on it like scrabble, browse the web with it, read email and send email with it and more. This computer now has 1 gigabyte storage which appears 2/3s of the 1.5 gigabyte memory that I have on my regular pc.

Look on Ebay for Palm Tungsten E2 and see what you can bid on.

Hello,

I have an Aiptek MPVR2K6. It also produces M4S2 .ASF files. Software came with it that encodes M4S2 files for watching on it, as it was designed to be a media player. The software is available from the AIPTEK website under the drivers for the MPVR2K6. It works under Windows 98. It is called ArcSoft MediaConverter.

However, I’m having the opposite problem. I’m trying to get the .ASF files off the camera and edit them in VirtualDub without any lossage due to conversion. I’m using Windows 98 as well. The ArcSoft MediaConverter insists on decoding and re-encoding the files leading to lossage, plus it cuts off the video after 10 minutes (though the audio continues until the end. The old version of VirtualDub that reads .ASF files doesn’t recognise the M4S2 codec and won’t recognise the files. Is there perhaps a compatible fourcc that I can change M4S2 to in the file that Virtualdub will recognise, or any other ideas would be appreciated.

That Tungsten E2 is awesome for the price.

That thing is better than my crappy DELL laptop!

200mHz Intel processor.

I have a different cam, it’s a DXG 305v digital camcorder. I really want to do the same thing, being watch my own video clips on it as if it was a portable player. I tried the link to the virtualdub13c that allows asf files, but i get this error “illegal object flags 9a in packet 98000. Packet size 4000, pp=12, send time: 25:19:14:29” I think myabe the file i downloaded was tainted, can someone resend me a copy that works?

Also, when I get it to work, all I do is analyze the original file from camcorder (which from what I know so far, bit rate 1000, mpeg4, 320x240, frame rate -1.#jfps (should be 30, not sure what those numbers mean). Audio is adpcm_ima_wav, rate 32kps, sample rate 8000hz, and mono channle.

All i need to do is use what virtualdub tells me and change the other asf file to match that, correct? I’ll get an email when someone repleis, i hope i can get this to work, it would be super cool. If not, i still got my laptop, but running it and wasting battery is pain.

Okay, quick update. I looked around, and it seems that the error i am getting is not rare, a lot of people who try to open asf or wmv files in VideoDub 1.3c and below get an error similar to “illegal object flags 9a in packet 98000 packet size..." I’ve' been working on this thing non stop trying to figure this out, all i need to do is get it to work once, that’s all it takes for me to learn. I was wondering if someone could possibly work with me to help me get this going if possible, in either AIM or Yahoo or something similar. I don’t have much to offer except advertising on my 550 hits/day web comic, and maybe some desktop publishing or something. I was hopeing even “Sleet” would be kind enough to help me out since it seems he/she knows a lot about this. Please email me at trevorfayas@sonicandpals.com as soon as possible so I can see if i can’t get this to work, hopefully before to long, if i can get htis to work i might need to upgrade from my 256 mb SD card to a 512 before the 14 day return period is up. Anyways, i hope someone can help me, i would love to be able to watch my episodes on the go.

Sincerely,
Trevor Fayas

TREY.
Visit here and see if any of the Camera Tutorials will help (this is my website).

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze3nvj6/AIPTEK/index.html

Maybe use one of the tutorials and somehow modify them so that it works for you.

Also, send an e-mail (email address is on my website) of an actual, but small ASF file from your camera, and any extra info, like Audio codec stuff (eg. Audio - AD_pcm, etc...)

I’ll send you a new ASF mini clip, compiled from a TV show or movie. Hopefully it will work. If it does, then I can post that tutorial on my website.

@gheller

Could you possibly rip the Arcsoft MediaConverter software to your computer and upload it to the web? Someplace like www.spread-it.com or www.megaupload.com

I would really like to try the software, if you can do this that would be great.

Thanks,
Kingbee

okay, i’ve already logged over 30 hours trying to get this to work, this is what i have discovered.

For me, only video with EXACTLY 30 frames per second work, anything deviating from that will not be visible.

Secondly, although the bitrate for the video does not seem to effect it’s play, BUT the audio is choppy and lags behind the video, making it out of sync.

The difference i have found is in the audio’s bitrate. Using various programs, mainly now ffmpeg I was able to take the audio and change it’s bitrate, but it changed the audio file from 21 minutes to 41 seconds, and it plays smoothly except every 2 seconds it skips ahead like 30 seconds (so it ends in 41 seconds instead of 21 minutes).

I know the audio bitrate is the reason why the audio won’t play well, cuz when i increased the bitrate it played smoothly (just with the time problem listed).

I’m still working on it, but somehow I need to convert my 32 kb/s audio wav into a 1008 kb/s bitrated IMA ADPCM 4bit 8khz. This is getting really complicated lol.

I’m still experimenting, but I can’t find a wav resampler that can change it right. I would just record on my cam and strip the audio and put it on, but virtual dub won’t allow asf, and the lower versions that do won’t work on my computers (gets an error).

I’m still open to suggestions, just email me at trevorfayas@sonicandpals.com I’ll continue to work on this. If i can just get that wav to convert to 1008 kb/s without messing up the timing...

Ack, i tried to record the audio on the cam but there was no way to strip it and put it onto another file, ffmpeg kept giving me errors. The guy helping me is currently tied down at work for the month and until he comes back, this is what I woudl suggest others to do.

First, try to get a laptop or any LCD screen (not tv nor CRT). Next, get legos (yes, the toy blocks) and do what I did and build a cradle to hold the camera in front of the screen at a correct angle so taht you can see the entire screen clearly. I suggest using windows media player since you can edit the brightness, contrast, and saturation so it looks the best.

Lastly, cut the lights, turn on the speakers, and record the actual video. Not sure how the battery will do, but i’m just recording 21 min cartoon episodes, i’ll save them all and keep them so when i want i can load them onto a sd card and watch my cartoons on the go. The video and Audio are perfect this way. The files themselves will be larger, but that’s the price i will have to pay. If i get a 512 i could fit about 3 episodes on it, about an hour worth of playback. -.- i hope when he coems back we can figure out an easier way.

Hi I am interested in purchasing a Mobibox H28 or H32 DV camcorder for use in USA. Anyone got any ideas? I noticed someone posted a question about using their Mobibox H28 and wondered if they’d be so kind as to share where they got it, Thanks.

Since I’m here I’m looking to purchase the smallest good(not the best/ priciest)digital flash based camcorder. Since everyone here has one, anyone suggestions as to which takes decent video, is small and under $200? Thanks, I appreciate any and all replies.
