Entropia-God Guest | On the site it doesnt say that the DV 3500 is compatable but the thread is about the DV 3500 anyway lol. I’m sure it is possible, I just need the correct program to convert .mpg NOT .mpeg to .asf compatable with the DV 35000.
Thanks, Jay | |

Entropia-God Guest | Hey everyone it’s moi again,
I just took intstructions from the info at the beginning from when the thread started but Windows Medio Converted my .mpg file to a .wmv file not an .asf file. I tried putting that on but it still didnt work and it’s really puzzling how to do it. Any suggestions?

Sean Guest | I have a MobiDV H12 also, kozmo. I’ve been trying like crazy to get my videos to play on it. I’m with XElemenTX as far as wanting to know what exactly you did to get video onto it. Could you post some steps please? Thanks a bunch.

XElemenTX Guest | Hey Sean..
what was the last result you get with your cam until now?
XElemenTX | |
| 28 Dec 2005 10:02 pm |
Sean Guest | Ha, the last result I got was like zero...I thought I could just use DVD Ripper Platinum to create .ASF or .MPEG4 files to play on it, but as I’ve found out, that’s not what it plays (or creates for that matter).

Sean Yu Guest | Thanks for all of you guys. With your great help, I got excellent result in my Lumicron PMA G1.
1. Use VirtualDub to convert source media to uncompressed AVI(with proper audio convertion).
2. Use 3GP_converter to generate ASF file.

Oreano Guest | To Entropia-God
Use virtual dub to convert to avi first, then use Vidtoasf.exe to convert into asf!
| 01 Jan 2006 01:37 am |
Sean Guest | I’m using Kingbee’s tutorial, and I’ve run into a problem. Whenever I try to start converting to ASF at the command prompt, I get this gay message saying that vidtoasf.exe has encountered an error and needs to close. Anybody have any ideas why it’s doing this to me? I’ve followed the tutorial to the letter (several times in fact up to this point), but ever time it’s the same error message. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Oreano Guest | Sean
vidtoasf -in 'your filename'.AVI -out 'new filename'.ASF
Are you sure your vidtoasf.exe is working correctly?? Try downloading it again!

Sean Guest | Ha, wow, I’m sorry! I totally goofed...I had my AVI file named as 'napdyn.avi.avi' instead of with just 1 '.avi' in the filename. It totally works now; thanks for replying, Oreano!

Sean Guest | Okay, after successfully doing everything as described in Kingbee’s tutorial, here’s what I got: horrible video (very blocky and pixely, occasionally a few clear frames would pop up), and garbly audio (it wasn’t a complete wash-out; I could pick out some phrases here and there, but not good enough for me to be satisfied). Just to clarify, I do have an i-Joy MobiDV H12. I’m not really sure where to go at this point...I’m not good enough with this type of stuff to be able to figure it out myself, although I can pretty much handle anything provided I have some instructions, lol. Kozmo said he got good results using VirtualDub alongside the 3GP Converter with the 7-in-1 stick cam .INI, but he didn’t explain how and I’m not really sure what to do. Any ideas anyone? Thanks a bunch.

Spin Guest | @ Sean
That MobiDV H12 looks cool! Almost like an iPod, but cheaper price and better. That would be great to add to my website of playing back videos on hybrids.

How do you like that “toy”. Is it good, reliable? What’s your rating (or review) for a device that cheap?
| 01 Jan 2006 05:25 pm |
Sean Guest | Spin, I’ll throw some specs out so as to give you a better idea of what the MobiDV H12 can do (unless you’ve already seen them, then just ignore this part): CMOS is at 2 MP; 4 MP using interpolation. Stills can be taken at a resolution from 320x240 to 2304x1728. Video resolution is 640x480 (VGA)/Max 15 fps and 320x240 (QVGA)/Max 30 fps. Maxium digital zoom is 12X. It has a 1.5” LTPS TFT LCD at 120K pixel (508x240 pixel). Flash is made up of 10 LED high brightness bulbs. It is a strictly SD card based device; no internal memory of any kind.
Now on to the fun part — what I think of it. First and foremost, the pictures this thing can crank out are pretty amazing. I was expecting cell phone quality shots, but the pictures it takes look very, very good. Along with the good pictures comes a pretty impressive array of what might be called moderately advanced picture-taking options. I was surprised to find out that it will let you tinker around with things like filter effects, sensitivity values, burst shots, and white balance. Something I think is really cool is the fact that the lens can rotate 230 degrees, allowing crazy camera angles and the oppurtunity to take shots (or video) of yourself while still being able to see the viewscreen. Speaking of video, why don’t I hit that one next...the video specs are pretty self-explanatory, but 320x240 at 30fps is what I’ve been using. I’d take frames over size any day, besides 320x240 is a pretty decent size to get be able to get 30fps. Another really nifty feature this thing has is the spotlight. It can’t really be called a “flash” per-se, because you can leave it on while shooting video in total darkness and actually produce something viewable. Let me warn you though, not to take video of yourself in the darrk using the rotating lense...you’d probably go blind or something. The MP3 player is solid, but there’s just one thing missing: file names. The device simply displays the file number (i.e. “file0001” . But I have to say, it seems like an extremely insignificant fault when in comparison to all that it does. I was blown away by the sound quality when playing MP3’s, though. It has outstanding clarity (of course it does depend on the bitrate of the file, but you get my drift). The player also has 'Repeat 1' and 'Repeat All' features, as well as a “point A to point B” type looping function. Unfortunately, there’s no shuffle but again, I find it a small loss when in comparison to everything else. Oh, and I forgot the voice recorder, but I’m sure you know what that is so I won’t even go into that. Lastly, I just want to address the memory situation really quick. Nowhere in the instruction manual does it say that there’s a SD card size limit. I’ve purchased a 1 GB card just for this camera, and it functions perfectly. I would assume it would accomodate a 2 or possibly 4 GB card as well, but I don’t know that for a fact. In other words, no worries about not having enough space (it does come with a 128 MB SD card — not nearly big enough for MP3’s or video, but fine for taking stills).
The bottom line is this: the i-Joy MobiDV H12 is worth every penny I paid for it. I wouldn’t call it the best device on the market, but it sure does beat the pants off of an iPod. For what the MobiDV does in that small of a package and for that small of a price, it is amazing for those reasons alone.
Now if I can only get video to play on it correctly....

Sean Guest | HEY, IT WORKS!!! As it turns out, there weren’t really any instructions needed. I just dropped my file into 3GP using the 7-in-1 stick cam setting, and it cranked out a near perfect video that plays on my MobiDV H12! I guess it would be nice to utilize my camera’s 30fps capabilities (the stick cam INI is set at 15fps), but I am so not complaining. It actually runs pretty smoothly at 15fps. There is some background fuzz in the audio, but not more than say watching a VHS or playing an audio cassette tape. Haha, I am like so hysterically happy over this whole thing! Spin, it would be very cool of you to put the i-Joy MobiDV H12 on your site...if there’s anything I may be able to help you out with, just say the word.

Brian 43 Guest | Make sure you use version 3.1 of 3GP Converter. I tried version 3.4 (with 7 in 1) and it would not work. Downloaded 3.1 and works great.

Jamez Guest | can someone give me a link to where i can get 3gp converter 3.1?
