bttrfly_magic Guest | Yep....my windows movie maker has NEVER be able to fully download movies for this same reason so doing a system restore would only cause me more hassle. I would lose all my programs but the stupid thing STILL wouldn’t work.

clarastar13 Guest | yup...same prob here....
The file cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
what does this even mean!!

aalikane Guest | bob2: that doesn’t necessarily work if WMP/WMM has *never* worked properly on your computer...
I had to reinstall the OS onto my computer, and lost everything, and when i tried to use WMM/WMP for videos...it wouldn’t work.

John 1324353645 Guest | Im trying to put videos of me playing combat arms in windows movie maker. I noticed in the corner it says split. So i want to just have my kills on there and not me just walking around. So i dragged it from kodak easyshare on to the desktop. then moved it to videos. So i go to Windows Movie Maker and go to import files I found the video but it says the codec isn’t installed. I looked this up on the internet and it didn’t help. I hope i can get some useful information off of this website. Thanks.

its not software or anything that caused this problem, its a different file format.

unseen Guest | For those of you with the: “Avi. could not be imported. The-required-codec-was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box." Problem, I’ve found a solution that could work for you.
It’s simple really... But you need to delete the program and reinstall the latest version if you’re not already using it (Search Google for Windows Movie Maker 2.6, which is the latest available). I have the new Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for my Vista, and when attempting to import cips now, it no longer gives me any problems. Hope you guys get your WMM’s all fixed up. n.n
