To bob 2 perhaps we don’t want to loose our files. we want to keep the files we have. what if we already had the stuff ready but cannot import? it just be a waste of our time trying to recover every little bit of information or data needed.

Yea, we read your post dude, chill! I’m having the same codec prob with W.M.M. and System restore it’s not an option for some of us and apparently doesn’t work anyway. Is this just a discussion board or does somebody know an answer for this?

Do all keep looking for codec packs that work. However, I found that the codec packs that I installed (K-Lite’s, plus a codec for my own weird video cam) were not automatically used by WMM.
So, once you’ve found a good very complete codec pack (I recommend K-Lite), go through the following steps; it just might work.

1 Open movie maker (hard one to guess, sorry)
2 Click Tools —> Options
3 Go to the “Compatibility” tab at the top of the window.
4 You’ll find a box with some text and a lot of checked boxes. Make sure all boxes are checked (check the ones that are not).
5 Click “ok”.
6 Try to import your .avi video again.

This worked for me; as not all boxes were checked. If you find that all boxes were already checked in the compatibility tab, this will probably not work for you.

I HAVE FOUND A WAY BUT IT SEEMS EVERYBODY IS TO LAZY TO READ “ALL” THE POSTS....BECAUSE IF THEY DID, THEY WOULD HAVE TRIED MY WAY...Sorry getting off, but I just dont understand why people I saying that they havent found a solution, somebody please posts if this did not work for them....
AS I SAID:
“I have found a way. Go to your windows start menu then to programs, accesories, system tools, and then click on “system restore”. After this just choose the date before this error had occured.

Note: If you had installed any new programs after this error you will loose them but not the information you saved on them. Example: I had lost my iTunes program but when I reinstalled I still had all my songs on the program. So dont worry about loosing any vital information."

Instead of killing youself trying to find codec, do this.....It worked very well for me....
NOw I hope I dont see anymore “But still no answer”....I have one!!! Use it!!!

We’re not ignoring you. Your way just doesn’t WORK. Okay? Okay. Calm down. And if you can’t give us a solution that *does* work, then shut up.

The file C:\Users\sou83\Music\arabic music\nancy_Ana_meno.rm cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

how do i fix this
