MizzButterfly Guest | Okay, my problem is that I can’t import anything into Movie Maker. That error message comes up. However, if I close the program and then open it up again, that file is there.
But I can’t put anything at all in to the story board. It’s really annoying and I’ve been trying to find a way to fix it and nothing has worked. Does anyone know what I can do?
Please and thanks!! | |

I found a solution that worked for me on another thread at this web site. Once you install this and double click on the video file, Windows Media should automatically play the file with the picture that was previously missing.
hi all...the problem that you have is that you don’t have the codecs installed to play the movies...goto www.free-codecs.com and download ffdshow (top left colum of the page) to a folder, then double click it to run it, it installs automatically and fixes the problem, that will sort things out for you...good luck

This worked finally!!! Thanks! | |

I had this problem with Movie maker. when I wanted to import .avi video it said to me:
The file E:\..........\alefba\ AVSEQ01.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
But I have found how to solve this problem.
1- open your movie maker
2-Go to Tools — >Options
3-Choose compatibility at te above of window
4-At the filters Box, check the last option:
“ffdshow mpeg-4 video decoder”
5-push ok bottom
6- Now, import your .avi video and enjoy it.
