Hikari Guest | Simply said you need to download the codec that you don’t have. Most videos now are encripted with the xvid codec, that’s what mine didn’t have. To find the exact codec that you need, go and download the program found on gspot (I saw the link to it on one of the earlier posts) It’s very simple to use. After downloading and installing it, just click 'open' and the file that you want to import. It will then tell you the codec needed. From there, just copy and paste the codec name into google and find that codec to download. The webpage for xvid is here http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ Then simply install the codec by double clicking on it and following the instructions. Hope this helps.

SomeoneElse Guest | Hey, thx sum dude for the help. I’ve tried everything, but that’s the only thing that’s actually worked..
But there’s another thing. Don’t think it’s really codec-related, but my Windows Movie Maker just closes down every fucking time I import another movie. This pisses me off, since importing a whole movie takes about 10-13 minutes for me.. Annoying! >.< And I deleted all the ffdshow things, but it still shuts down as soon as the whole thing is imported... Anyone?

gabi_ronl Guest | hi everybody.please somme help if knew something about this: The file C:\.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. i have asf movie and i can not make it with movie maker.i close the program and restart but is the same.
