convertingf audio ts and video ts into one simple avi file

i have a dvd and when i try and convert it into a file to store on my pc it comes up with 2 files....1 is audio ts and the other is video ts (video ts has lots of smaller vid ts files in)

how do i change this all into one file

I guess you got a DVD movie folder.
You need a DVD Converter, which can convert DVD files to all popular format video, AVI included. But only some professional DVD Converter can merge several chapter into one single file.

It seems you get something from DVD folder.
