Brainst Guest | Since my last posting I have D/Led Heaps of codecs and now can play srt, ogm,sfv ect, But The BS player still “Encounters A Problem"and shuts down after 10-20 mins on one srt movie.
Codecs codecs players players — I wish this was a little more standardised.

nick Guest | try getting VLC it only plays avi files. How do you play .srt files with avi files?
| |
| 06 Mar 2005 12:00 am |
brainst Guest | Hi Nick - “ju-on the grudge.1” for example contains a movie file “ju-on the grudge.1.avi” and the subtitles in another file “ju-on the grudge.1.srt”.
You have to load the movie (avi) and then load the subtitles with the (srt) file useing the BSPlayer and all seems well.
I sometimes have the odd hicup but it seems stable now.

muaddib420 Guest | i had trouble playing srt subtitle files with divx or xvid .avi also, then realized that for windows media (or any other player for that matter), to recognize the SRT file and play it, the movie title and SRT title must be exactly the same. so try renaming the movie file to the srt file name and it should auto detect and play the subtitle when you launch the movie.

rolex1000 Guest | I downloaded VLC as a previous guy said and it solved the problem.
Increasing the brightness was a bit weird. You need to click on Settings/Extended Video. From there you can adjust colors and brightness. The program crashes sometimes, but overall it’s decent.
I guess another option would be to convert the AVI file to MPG or another format. I think these converters are freely available.

Soeren Guest | Hi guys
I’m trying to play Kingdom of Heaven (2005) [ENG] [DVDrip] CD1 but Divxplayer just freezes up and the same with all other players. Gspot says it’s a valid file and I have the codecs needed to play it. All other files work fine in Divxplayer, what can be the cause of the problem?

Robin Guest | Okay, i didn`t read all the posts, but the problems seems to be that u cant play avi files.
well i think i got the answer.
1. You have to use VLC it plays almost everything.
2. when you have opened VLC you click on file in the left upper corner, and then you click on open capture device.
3. Then a box should appear
Now you have to click on “file”.
when you have done that you click where it says browse, and browse the avi file you want to open.
4. Now when you have done that, dont exit the box.
because now you can open the subtitle.
so click on the little box where it says subtitle options and then click settings.
Now you click browse and find the srt.(subtitle)
you want to open.
5. When you have done that you click OK and the avi film should start playing with subtitle.
BUT!!!!
if that doesn`t work you do as following.
This is realy simple, all you gotta do is name the avi film and the subtitle the same and open the film in WMP and the film should start playing with subtitle.
Enjoy guys!!!!

STUCK Guest | I tried downloading that Direct VobSub that was mentioned by moonwalker or whatever his/her name was. (Sorry dude, I forgot) That program didn’t even work, when I downloading it, it didn’t even give u the proper installation files!
Then when I tried the other idea I got from here of naming the subtitle file (srt file) and the movie file (in this case a DVDRip XviD-UDM file) the same name, THAT didn’t even work!!!
Can anyone help me here?!

Shroud Guest | I’ve been having this same issue. Trying to play .avi files with .srt subtitles. I could get WMP to play the .avi but not the subtitles. About as far as I got was getting the .srt to open in notepad... So far the VLC media player is working fine for me.
Thanks Robin for the advice! I’ve been trying to watch this movie for days and refused to see it without subtitles.

nummer Guest | hy fellas...try this....rename your srt file with the .avi file name...
eg
movie name: dragon.squad.2005.dvdrip.xvid.cd2-espise.avi
your subtitle file:
dragon.squad.2005.dvdrip.xvid.cd2-espise.srt
