srew Guest | Use the net:
1. Look for any “Online FLV converter” that convert to MPEG, AVI, MP3 etc.
2. Look for “AMV converter 4.0” in the net. This will convert everthing to AMV files that will be played in your MP4 players that requires AMV.
Problems solve..

Gerhardt Guest | OK all, here’s the deal. These so called MP4 players don’t actually play MP4 (or any actual video formats for that matter). All videos must be converted to the AMV/MTV format, as most of you know.
The videos are never Technically converted for that matter either. AMV/MTV “video” files are actually just pictures taken of the actual video at roughly 10-15 frames per second, giving them the appearence of motion. Essentially, it’s just one fast and long animated GIF (well, JPEG actually), with either a PCM (.wav) or MP3 audio track played over it.
see wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMV_video_format

waxwarrior Guest | Hi there! I’m trying to upload a mp3 video out of jpeg on Youtube, plus I did it for several times but the videos I’ve uploaded sound mono. So I’ve seen no options like mono/stereo, you can only change the level of mp3 in Movie Maker. How do I encode it to stereo? Thanks!

I have the biggest problem. I am trying to make an amv. I got a bunch of episode’s that I purchased online and when I try to import them into Windows Movie Maker it says: The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.
I have checked everywhere for a Options dialog box or another codec’s downloader but I am still stuck! Can you help?
~Thank you~
First things first, Becca. I doubt you have the biggest problem. In fact, I would say that there are people who have much bigger problems than yours. So you illegaly downloaded a few episodes of a TV show, tried to change their format to AMV for some unknown reason, and put them in Windows Movie Maker. You clearly have a big problem in that you have no idea how to go about using a computer properly, but that’s OK! We’re here to help you and to make you feel better about yourself. Next time, don’t pretend you’re dying of starvation or terminally ill; or indeed that your family life is falling apart around you and your best friend just passed away. You do not have the biggest problem, and if you do, you have not just mentioned it.
As you would know had you just READ A FEW PAST POSTS before you bothered posting yourself (although I suppose maybe writing out that post took your mind off the biggest problem, you can find the codec at http://www.free-codecs.com/. Furthermore, it isn’t particularly hard to find “Options” in any Windows software - its in the same place in almost every piece of software you get from Microsoft: Tools — Options. What a shame even the most basic software solutions escape you.
So 'yes' is the answer - I can help. But next time, do me a favour. Read past posts, and if and only if your question hasn’t already been asked, ask nicely.
How rude... *sigh*
I am also trying to do the same thing as Becca, only the thing is... regardless of whether or not the options box can be located, ticking the box doesn’t akways make it work. (In my case, it does not.) Also, it would be surely helpful if I could be informed of the actual type of codec required? (Forgive me, I am only 13, and I really shouldn’t be expected to know what file type I need.)
Also forgive me if I sound impolite. Which I imagine I do. It is a rather unfortunate habit of mine...
Help is highly appreciated.
Jaa,
~Chaxrasan.

| 01 Apr 2008 11:16 pm |
pshaaa Guest | C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\project 064.avi could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.
when i drop my amv file into windows movie maker, this is what it tells me.
i’d appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix this.

Wambaz Guest | Lets keep it simple. The solution is at hand......Go to
http://www.conceppt.com
Look at the menu column on the right and click “Downloads 2”
Once there scroll down the page and click “Conversion Service”
A new page will open. Click the “Choose file” button and upload your file.
A bit further down you’ll find an “output format” menu/button: choose format and then click the “OK” button.
Wait for a minute whilst it converts and then download the converted file.
Before uploading use QuickTime and “export” your video to a .mov file, with the following settings..
Video...Compression: H.264, Quality: Medium, Frame rate: 15, Encoding mode: multipass, Dimension: 160x120, Sale: Fit within (160x120).
Sound... Format: Integer (Big Endian), Sample rate: 44,100 khz, Sample size: 16-bit, Channels: Mono.
I’ve found that all .flv files, of whatever size, converted as above, work. Therefore if youre not having any luck convert first to .flv and then use QT to export as above and then upload to the convertion service.
Ciao4now.
