Afternoon guys & gals:

* Well, I’m not backing up DVDs anymore.
I am finding the copies I made do not play over a period of time, can someone confirm this ?

The KVCDs (or BVCDs) are working quite nicely, however.

You should know that virtually any and all new DVDs will have some curious protection that prevents them from being backed up, so how do you backup any DVD to a BVCD bypassing DVD protection completely, without requiring special hardware or software, like AnyDVD, and, in fact, not using any DVD conversion software whatsoever ?

I’d like to see someone else answer this before I do because I want to know that I am not the only one who knows how to do this.

As for archiving to a true computer format, if you have not already done so, you need to look at 3iVx and xVID. There is a codec with nearly 20x the compression and video quality of these first two but I’d like to see someone else post what it is first. smiley

With the 3rd codec, I encoded 8 & 1/2 hours of Cable TV in a 320x240 format at 15fps that fits neatly on one audio CD, that plays only on the computer. I’ll give you a hint, I used only one keyframe for the whole 510 minutes, however you can seek anywhere and audio is always on track nonetheless.

That’s all from here.

kvcd’s are conveient and not the best conversion....

and you could NEVER get passed the encryption unless you use such programs like dvd region +css free / any dvd etc etc.

I’m not having any problem burning KVCD and burning by any means. Or at least I think. The problem I’m encountering is that it plays great on my DVD player. until the last 30 minutes or so of the movie and then it starts glitching out bad! I mean skipping scenes sometimes, getting really horrible pixilation, just all about bad. I was wondering what this problem may be and if it has to do with the up to 790MB file being burned to a 700MB CD-R... If not what can I do to fix this cause every movie I’ve burned which is about 10 now has done this... please help!

i use vcdgear to convert to mpeg it only take a minute to do this, then i use x2dvd to convert to dvd, this will take a half hour to an hour, depending on the size and your computer, sometime if i need to adjust the screen size i will use winavi, advznce settings will let you adjust the screen size, although winavi 6.3 does not have a preview, so i would use any one before this rlease
thanks

oh, as for the quality of kvcd, it is great only on a standard tube tv, hd tv’s, big screens, projector, lcds, and plasmas, your picture will not be as good, just convert it to dvd and waiste a little more money, i use dvd rw’s that way i do not waste a dvd if it is a bad copy, also look for the xvid release, most kvcd’s you down came from an original xvid release read it will tell you witch one the converted to kvcd as is “cars xvid maVen kvcd(tus hockey)", witch means if you look for “cars xvid maVen” you will find it not in kvcd fomat, so you will get better quallity when you convert it to dvd, using what ever program you would like to use, there are hundreds of them out there, as for coping a dvd, the best i have found is dvdfab gold for new releases or dvd decrypter the dvd shrink, for older movies just dvd shrink works great
hope all of this helps everyone or/and anyone

get vcdgear! open it, load filename.bin, select new location(it will ask), (i use desktop), press start, when finished, get X2DVD, open it click and carry movie file over to X2DVD, press convert, place blank disk in to dvd recorder and wait that is all

sound slike either the cd is needing a clean even if it looks fine, or sadly the encoder has slightly messed up with their release.

it sounds to me as if the kvcd file is corrupted, if the same file is doing the same thing on different disk then probly a corrupted file, if it is the same disk such as a cd-rw, then it could be the disk has gone bad, either way, if it is the same disk, try another disk, otherwise, try another downdoad, or at lease check out the file on your computer, see if you have the same problem there
