OK. KVCD FOR PC - NO CONVERSION PLAYBACK

1. Google “powerISO” and install trial version

2. Double-click on the KvCD file or first image "*.part01” (May need to ckeck the file association)

3. Extract the .DAT file inside anywhere you like

4. Drag that onto the Media Player Classic icon you already have on your desktop...

PS. Screw kvcd - find better files instead wink

bin image and bin file are the same mate.

the bin file with come with another file which will be less than 1/4 size of the bin file... if not then it wont work but you do simply use just like an iso image as iso is just like a bin file in the sense that both are just compressed reader images to burn straight to dvd/cd.

the subtitle question.
sven mate, the only way is to do the encoding again and know how to insert the subtitles.... so basically there is no point in getting the original kvcd . as reencoding makes the quality absoloute fucking shit.

best way to insert subs on avi, you get hold of virtual dubmod and get the filters for the job. then after that, find how to encode kvcd.

which by the way, if you dont have asystem simlar to an am64 3200+ with 2gb dual channel memory or higher then expect to spend a good few days even weeks to get it right.

what sounds british... me or kvcd format?

right well first you convert the original video file to kvcd video format which is mpeg -1 with mp2 audio.

you need to then use a program to check its complaint with kvcd structure then it will convert the kvcd file to bin/cue format.

i use vcdeasy this takes about 5 mins to check the file if on a slow system, this will also tell you if your file is too big or if you have more space to play with the quality of the file.

this program also allows you to add chapters and menus , but importantly will convert to bin cue format without issues and thats what it is made for.

TO WHO EVER
TO MAKE KVCD-IN MY OPINION-DONT BOTHER TO MUCH HASSLE,AND TIME CONSUMING,

THE EASYEST WAY TO BURN KVCD-NERO EXPRESS,IMAGE,OPEN LARGEST FILE,BURN

TO WATCH KVCD-LVC PLAYER MOST DEFINATLY

QUALITY-U DONT LOSE ALOT LIKE PEOPLE THINK,BUT USUALY U GET WIDE WIDE SCREEN TO KEEP DVD QUALITY.

REASON TO DOWNLOAD-KVCD-STRAIGHT TO DISC,NO CONVERTING NEEDED
UNLESS U LIKE XVID-THERES LOADS OFF APPS FOR THIS,
SAVES CONVERTING TIME.

BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER THE LAST I GIVE U

DONT BURN THESE THING OVER 8x SPEED UNLESS U WANT SYNC PROBLEM,AND PIXELING. HEED MY WARNING

Save some time and effort, get a Magnavox Progressive Scan DVD Player w/ DivX, MWD7006, Walmart sells it for $37. My experience, this model will play VCD, KVCD and AVIs in Divix or XVid format.

cruiser even if it does everything and anything, if people wish to use kvcd’s which they obviously do since this topic is here then they still need to know how to use ,burn and watch them or even how to create them

Very true, I just got this particular model and am happy with the luck I have had and thought I would share with an interested audience. There are a lot of questions about converting video formats because their particular DVD player will not work. The ones that tickel me is burning a KVCD to DVD media so it will work on some old DVD player, that is just crazy, life does not have to be that hard, upgrade your DVD player. Therefore Magnavox MWD7006 DVD Player w/ DivX for $37, CDs are cheap compared to DVD media.
KVCD is a great way to view movies on the cheap. Most of the good rips....ect... are usually in cue/bin image files, the creator has done the work for you, just burn the image to CD.
Most “free” movies come in AVI format, compressed with Divix or Xvid. These files burn just like a data disk. MWD7006 makes this real simple for you newbies out there, if the file is under 700MB, burn to CD media, if over 700MB, burn to DVD media. Even better, can fill a DVD with several AVIs. You get a menu when the disk is loaded, I suggest renaming the file to the movie title before burning, just leave the file extention alone.
I am going keep visiting this forum as dragon25 and others are very knowledgeable about video, good job to the helpers. Also, I get a good chuckle from the noobssmiley
Hell, I may even post some useful help sometime about video!

to gnarkill: in the main Nero window, click File .. then Compilation Properties .. there is where you uncheck the standard compliant box.
