I know about everything to do with video converting but I have a problem. I got a .avi file, a movie, that I want to fit to 1 cd. The movie will be about 100 mbs too big to fit. I am tired of splitting movies to fit on 2 blank cd’s.It is annoying.
Is there a program out there that can reduce a movie size to fit it to 1 CD. I know,I know, It will degrade the quility. I don’t mind that.lol.
That is usually the 1st thing outta ppl mouths, lmao.
Anyways, thank you to anyone who can help me out.

wanderlust Guest | as for Standalone players not playing CDs I have never seen one that wouldn’t, if yours won’t it has to be the biggest piece of crap ever made. Now for getting those bute tus releases on a CDR. Almost every TUS release contains the instructions for doing it with Nero but for those not from TUS here is how. Open Nero Burning Rom, burning rom will open and the new compilation box will pop open in front of it. Click cancel on the NC pop up and then open the file menu in the upper right corner of the burning rom and click options in the pop up box that opens it choose the expert features tab.Put a check in front of Enable Disc at once over burning. There are 2 options below that choose absolute overburning size and change it from 82 minutes to 84. Click apply and then ok and close the burning rom.
Navigate to the folder containing the bin and cue files. Right click the cue file, hover over open with and when the sub menu opens it should have the option of burn with nero burning rom if not click choose program, might say burn with nero there, if not click browse and nav to the programs folder. Nero 7 go to nero/nero 7/core folder and choose the burning Rom, Nero 6 go to ahead/nero folder and choose nero burning rom check the little box on the open with tab to always perform this action and you won’t have to do this all again. Now when the cue file opens the burning rom opens and the pop up should say CD image on the left. Choose your burn speed and click burn (don’t forget to have a CDR in the drive)
I think a much better question for this thread is how to convert avi files to KVCD for those that can’t burn DVDs so you don’t have to use 2 discs to make a VCD or SVCD the reason that KVCD can fit so much more on one CD-R is because it does not use a constant video bitrate, it changes it for the needs of each part of the movie, a section with say less action would need less bitrate than a fast action scene but VCD will use the same bitrate for both. This is why KVCD is capable of better picture quality in less space besides just taking up less space.
Here is a nice free app for this that does the job faster cleaner and with less steps than Winavi as Winavi only lets you convert to constant rate SVCD not to noncompliant variable bitrate, KVCD.
OK so I hope y’ll got that, that is more than I usually say in a month so you’ll have to work out the kinks yourself.

Stuck Guest | I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve read all 10 pages top to bottom and have followed all advice. I got the kvcd burned onto a cd by using nero 7 premium. I right clicked on the image file and opened with nero burning rom and picked the speed of 8. Done all that and from what I read that’s supposed to be all. Thing is I can’t get it to play on any of my players. real player, media player, or nero showtime. They all freeze. I know the cd has the files because it’s there when I open it up. I know it must be something simple that I’m missing. Also I have VLC and it skips the movie. Now I have burned and played a movie on both the vlc and a dvd player. It was last year so I forgot. I know I came across this forum last time and it helped me. Now I’m totally lost though. Plz help. I know it’s something small I’m missing.

Stuck Guest | I have VLC, Nero 7, Daemon tools, MagicISO, Alcohol 120%. When I load the movie onto VLC it seems to play from somewhere in the middle and skips. Same with one I burned to cd, it played on my dvd player but seemed to play from somewhere in the middle and then froze. What is it that I’m doing wrong. I know it’s not the person who it encoded it because they know what they’re doing so it has to be me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

poff Guest | Hi, I tried to mount the file into virtual CD and open the DAT file with winAVI and it said “Can’t decode this file! Maybe the file is broken or the relative decoder is not installed!".
How can I find the decoder and install it?
I also tried VideoLAN with no luck as well.
Thank you.
