(I’m assuming you originally wanted to burn it to dvd so it’d be readable on a standalone dvd player, since it’s one of the most frequently asked questions on the board.)
This page has a listing on compatible players
http://www.kvcd.net/portal/articles.php?lng=en&pg=19
If your drive is compatible, just burn the kvcd to a cd-r and it should read just fine (just like it can read vcd or svcd).

bobmc Guest | Try WinAvi 6.3 to convert the file. Another is
AVS Media converter. One of these should work.

DOUGHBOY Guest | Apparently the concept of Kvcd has surpassed all of u ...the concept is to have up to a 790mb file which is capable of being burnt to ONE CD-R in your case it seems as though that Kvcd was either improperley encoded OR the header has not been reassigned to NON-STANDARD vcd which it needs to be..to be able to burn it to a 700mb cd-r or..the final soloution from my experience is that u are improperley burning it..now since i dont know wheter or not it’s bin/cue or in .mpg form i cant really help u there...besides to tell u that IF it is .mpg form be sure to UNCHECK standadrd compliant cd When burning it in nero. or reassign the header using tempgenc under the mpg tools tab. sorry but this post dont really peratin to the kvcd/dvd conversion..best thing i could say is try joining the many irc channels which have popped up #Kvcd-Movies being one of the better quality dedicated ones on irc.cyberexistance.net

dw817 Guest | Greets:
* I do this every day, actually KVCD to CDs that play in DVD players, not DVD disks themselves.
If you know of a GOOD FAST DVD AUTHORING program, notwithstanding it is commercial, please let me know in the Email listed above, or if not seen, it is:

First off, a bit about the TMPGENC KVCD template.
Just choose the first one, I think it is 120min. or so.
In TMPGENC configuration
Rate control: constant quality
setting for this:
Quality: ** detailed below.
MAX BITRATE: 2000 DO NOT VARY THIS
Minimum=zero
leave OFF mark for padding to be lower
P picture spoilage=zero
b picture spoilage=zero
MOTION SEARCH PRECISION: HIGHEST
I know it’s slow but people this is a movie so you want max quality. It’s permanent.
Now, for quality, encode at 75%.
If it’s less than or equal to 810megs when complete, it will probably fit on a CD as there is a small degree of compression involved, use VCDEasy and NERO.
If it’s too big, drop 5%, re-encode.
There is no calculator for a maximum slow quality KVCD to determine file size. I’ve tried them all.
KVCD takes approx. 3-hours for a 2-hour movie at 2.0ghz computer.
If your computer is much slower than this, smile and just buy the damn DVD movie already.
If you have ample free-time and the filesize encodes at 500megs, you can probably attempt a re-encode at 5% higher. Another 3 hours.
There is more to this, but you probably have your own ways of extracting the movie and putting them on CD.

Nobody Guest | Straight forward this is a sort of binary file. Load the image into Alcohol 120 image drive (just right click on the drive and mount the file) you can then explor the files held inside, simply drag the file onto your desk top. Then open winAvi and convert that file into a DVD.

Phantom69 Guest | just use NTI CD Maker to burn it as a vcd, it will not do anything to the movie but convert it to a DAT file. (make sure to allow overburn support)
or for you guy who wants to convert to a DVD use a simple authoring software like nero to convert to DVD compliant format

adj1198 Guest | I’ve seen around that there is a way to put up to 10 KVCD’s on to 1 DVD-r disc. If this is true, could someone instruct me (keep in mind i’m not too bright)on this or give me a link to the right software and guides to do it.
Thanks

NewfiePlayer Guest | I know about everything to do with video converting but I have a problem. I got a .avi file, a movie, that I want to fit to 1 cd. The movie will be about 100 mbs too big to fit. I am tired of splitting movies to fit on 2 blank cd’s.It is annoying.
Is there a program out there that can reduce a movie size to fit it to 1 CD. I know,I know, It will degrade the quility. I don’t mind that.lol.
That is usually the 1st thing outta ppl mouths, lmao.
Anyways, thank you to anyone who can help me out.
Take Care
