Making dvd copies

Recently I have been getting hit and miss with making copies of my movies. I have a LG dvd burner/player, and some of my latest purchased movies such as Troy and Resident Evil apocolypse
are not even recognized by my player, let alone making copies of them. Can anyone help me? I put in the purchased dvd and it tells me there is no media in the drive. But yet it will play on my home DVD player. Whats with that?
