Purple lines sounds like an overlay problem. Here’s a quick way to test in QuickTime 7. Go to edit, preferences, quicktime preferences, then select the advanced tab. You can try tweaking the DirectX settings, and if all else fails, turn to safe mode (GDI only).
Out of curiosity, what codec does the video file use? To find out go to window, show movie inspector (newer versions of QuickTime 7). Generally QuickTime movies from digital cameras use either Photo JPEG or MPEG-4 (part 2). I’m speculating smearing (or other overlay problems) would usually be associated with MPEG-4, but it’s only a guess. |
