help..i cant solve it..need help..cant play video

i have a few video / movie file dat i cant play
im using win xp pro n wmplayer 10
when i try to play the video..this error came up
“Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
“Error ID = 0xC00D1199”
i tried downloading a few divx codec..xvidc codec..ffdshow..& use gspot codec to check wat codec is missing..but it turns out rendering failed..the audio part says there r no codec installed..but i tried a few audion codec..it still wont work..plz help me..thnx
