You need to convert the DVD to MP4. google for ipod MP4 converters, there’s bound to be a freeware one somewhere.

Hi for this you need software program, with the help of it you can convert your DVD to a format that iPod supports. I’m using Movavi DVD to iPod. The great thing about Movavi DVD to iPod is that it is very easy to use. When you will use it you will feel that converting DVDs to iPod format is a piece of cake. So, I’ll suggest you to use it. And enjoy you journey in your way.
Hope it will help.

Handbrake is freeware to convert dvd to mp4.
http://handbrake.fr
I tried Handbrake...couldn’t get it to work. first i had to throttle it’s CPU usage because it would give me warnings about not getting to hog all my processing power. then no matter what settings i tried it would give me an error message with a tiny output file. it’s open source so whatever...good luck with it.
You can also use thisdvd to iPod Converter. I use it. It does a decent job for me.
