You can convert cctv dvr file extensions to avi using CamStudio. It really works and I have done it. There is almost no loss of quality. If you can play your dvr file with the system video player provided by your camera system on your computer, than you can use CamStudio to record it, and convert it to an AVI file. CamStudio records the video as it plays on the screen and converts it to avi. You can adjust the size of the area to record, crop it, etc. It works, and you can load it up on windows media player, or import it into windows movie maker and convert it to a WMV file for YouTube. GO TO CamStudio on google. You can download it for free, and you need to download the lossless codec package as well. The site gives where to go and what to download. Its great, and don’t forget to donate, it works, so help the guy out and show your appreciation.

NOTE: If you are using Digicam software, be sure to backup your .DVR data file as a EXE file (choice when you backup) and not as just a DVR file. Play the file in its own portable bootable DVR player file. This works. If you just copy the backup DVR file and try to play it in CamStudio, the video will not be visible in the box. You need to backup as a bootable EXE file and the video will show when converted by CamStudio.
