hi,

hope u r trying to make a VCD. For thatfirst insert a blank CD in ur drive and open the nero 6 and go for CREATE VCD option and sewlect the movie files which u want to make to VCD. Then click BURN.
It will take pretty good time first to encode and then to write to CD. Then u can use that CD in your VCD player.
Hope it will work
Bye

You can burn AVI files to dvd with Dvdsanta it will take some time but it will encode and then burn it to dvd. When dvdsanta first starts the time will jump high then it will drop down. Hope this helps.

I think the reason that the file expanded is because avi files are a more compressed file format for video(like mp3 files are smaller files but have CD sound quality).

Hope this helps

I would say you don’t burn them. I’m not totally sure if DVD players recognize *.avi files, but oh well, I suppose they don’t.

As for the Nero StartSmart person, that’s not a CD burning program, that’s a 'page of links' pointing to the appropriate Nero program and settings. You would select “Data Disk” (Or VCD or DVD or whatever, you get it) and then “Add” the files you wish to burn.

All the best,

Hello to all,

I am new to burning DVD Movies. I would like to know if anyone out there can tell me how to burn a downloaded AVI movie to burn to DVD.

I am using Nero StartSmart. I am lost as to how to use this program. I clicked on Make Own DVD-Video and from that point I am lost. Since the movies that have been downloaded come in two parts EX. Dark Water (1of2) then I had to download the (2of2). I was told I have to Convert the movies first to a different format.

Is there someone out there that can help!!!!!!!Please! Need step by step instructions if you have the time. Thank you.

Dear ComputerCrazy,

First of all, I need to know whether or not you have a movie or a Torrent file. Did you download the movie using a Torrent program, or did you download it from a website? (Alternatively, is the movie 50 MB in size, up to, but rarely, 5+ Gcool?

If you have a movie that you can play on your computer, open Nero StartSmart, and select what type of media you are recording onto (CD or DVD). Then you need to decide wether or not you are going to use this CD/DVD in a DVD player. If not, go to the “Data” tab, and select “Make data disc." (Note — This disc may only play on computers that are running XP, or high-end DVD players.)

If you have choson to make a data disc (Remember, this is only if you have a movie you can play) click the “Add..." button in the bottom-right of the new window, and choose the files you want to add. After that, it’s a disc name, recording drive & speed, and you’re all set! Feel free to post questions, and please post if everything works out.

All the best,
Sterkenburg

Use a program called DivX to DVD. This is an excellent program to burn avi files to DVDs. I have never had any problems with skipping.
