How to convert a .MOV using a Mac.

I’ve just bought myself the new Canon FS100 Camcorder which records straight onto SD cards but when the files are removed from the SD card you get a .MOV file.

There doesn’t seem to be anything on a standard Mac running OS X that can open or play a .MOV file.

Does anyone know of any decent FREE software that can be downloaded to ideally create an alternative file type so it can then be used to play and edit in something like iMovie.

Any help will be really thankfully received.
