Subtitles in WinAVI to burn using Nero 8

I tried WinAVI to convert PERSEPOLIS.AVI + PERSEPOLIS.SRT (Subtitles file) and burnt the resulting files with NERO 8. All seems to have worked fine except that the subtitles are huge in the resulting DVD and lack the black boarder which makes them illegible against pale portions of the screen. Does anyone know how to control the appearence of the subtitles in the conversion process?

Go to advanced options and look for the video decoder settings. In the very last one you’ll see “sub”. If you change it to DirectVobSub, it’ll display your subtitles how that decoder would i.e. properly. Obviously you’d have to install DirectVobSub but it’s not much to ask and it’s Free!
