However whenever I try to save it as an .avi it tells me that there is no audio decompressor
Do I need to put the Lame Acm somewhere or what?

shortypants Guest | Yes MKV is a rather exotic format, and not all conversion software converts thems especially because this format is constantly changing.
I have had a lot of success using ConvertXtoDVD with MKVs though (probably because it is updated regularly). I suggest trying it. The software is really simple to use, I doubt you will have any problems.

Chrisdude22 Guest | Sometimes just change the extension .mkv to .avi and it works!
Works on mine and someone else mentioned it does on his as well but on my friends it does not. It’s not a sure fire way but if it works, why not. Try it.

Chrisdude22 Guest | Use Super DVD Creator 9. Drag the mkv file into box and burn it to DVD. Simple
Sometimes just simply renaming and changing the .mkv extension to .avi will work.
SUPER by erightsoft is FREE and will also play .mkv files and you can use it to convert the file to any format if you wish.

DanielTaylor Guest | I think you needn’t convert mkv to avi, then burn avi to dvd. I am using MKV to DVD Converter which comes from mkv to dvd official site. It can convert and burn mkv to dvd directly. You can download the software from http://www.mkv-to-dvd.com/mkv-to-dvd.html . Good luck!

PRprince Guest | i have an anime (N.G.E.) i found a rare version in english , and its in mkv, i wish to upload the series to youtube and/or veoh.com, so others can enjoy it as much as i have. but i doubt i will be able to upload mkv’s so converting with the mentioned software is great news.... however the episodes have a default audio track of japanese and a secondary audio track of english.
questions: -1.)how do i break the episodes into 3 parts like they do anime episodes on youtube?
2.)how do i make the secondary audio track the default, or even take out the primary audio track altogether, and make the second (english) track the default?
2b.) they have like 3 non-default subtitle tracks that dont come out automatically but if i can strip the episodes of the unnecessary subtitle tracks i would aswell.
i have an account on Gmail if anyone wants to contact me further
