DDM Guest | Wait, so exactly how do I extract a subtitle file for use?
Do I need to do so for ConvertXtoDVD?
Cause when I check the video trees, it shows that no subtitles were found, so I guess i have to tack them on myself right?

VH Guest | VisualHub for Mac does everything at once. Just drag the mkv file into the DVD interface, check off author as DVD, and VisualHub does the rest.

Needs help Guest | none of this stuff is working. All I need is a free piece of software that will convert MKV to a Nero Acceptable format so I can Burn, without all this registration code and dead end bullcrap. I am sick and tired of converters that offer “Samples” and Virtualdubmod having trouble with every blessed part of my file saying it’s “incomplete” when it obviously runs on VLC. I JUST NEED A SIMPLE SOLUTION! *face palm*

ps3owner Guest | Hey christian, i see you are giving really good advice. I kinda unedrstand what you’re saying about the mkv files. Anyhow, I have a ps3 and want to play a movie i got. The movie is a mkv file (about 8 gb) which the ps3 cannot support. So I know I have to convert it into mp4 (1080p) since its high def. so that my ps3 can read it. I think if i do that i’ll be able to watch the movie on my ps3 with a great image quality (hi def, blueray). But for the converter im not too sure. I’ve tried PS3 Video Converter 3, but i think it doesnt support mkv files. I think ps3 video 9 will. Am I right ? Or if you have a better suggestion to convert mkv files? Any good converters out there that are easy to use ? I also want to get that movie files once converted into my ps3. Not too sure how to do it . Can i connect my pc to the ps3 to do it ? cauz its an 8gb file. THanks if anyone else also can help!
Thank you
in advance

runnin17 Guest | I am reading that a lot of people are converting MKV to AVI, but why??? You are losing all the HD audio and most of the HD video with this conversion.
So far the easiest program I have seen is ConvertXtoDVD, but too bad it is only for PC. I am still trying to find a Mac version or software like it.

They are converting MKV to AVI because they think avi is the universal file. But by reading most of the replies you can see MKV is better.
Any clue on my problem ? (posted before yours)

There is a simple converter that can convert many types of files, it is downloadable from
http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html
and is free
but it use all of your CPU so you cannot do anything until i is finshed for you exit
all you do is drag and drop your files then select the output type
EX: avi
and select the type of video and audio and you can customize it to be high of low quailty
Thanks to Jay this works perfectly and converts the file to a large vob file which can easily be made into a working DVD. I have attached this link which will tell everyone how to convert to a DVD once you use the program super.

mkvhater Guest | MKV is CRAP Delete the file and find the same file in a different format, its not worth all this converting.

Raidman Guest | TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring will convert MKV files and burn to dvd at the same time. Takes about 45 minutes for the average movie.

DeadManJ Guest | ConvertXtoDVD is like my best friend ever. We go to the park and play sometimes. And we even say awesome stuff together, like “Moo." But yeah it can handle anything with a few tweaks hur & thur. mkvextractgui works wonders here.
DazedHeroine.... try changing your settings a bit to increase the overall time issue. it should only take like 30 - 45 mins to convert anything under 2gb with a decent rig.
