Your Fahjar Guest | Bunch of wierdos. No one acutally responded with a positive answer to the original post question. Instead just talking a bunch of jibberish no one gives a crap about.
Whats the use? Yeah you, you know I’m talking about you.

I had a movie 'Das Boot' that was in MKV format. I use a program called VSO CovertX to DVD. It converts and burns many formats.
Hope this helps, Its well worth getting. And very straight forward to use too.

whatever999666 Guest | ok i’ve tried the first suggestion for converting mkv to avi and then burning but i cant get through step 1. I did what you said, and the program pops an error message when i try to save in avi. It says : The source video stream uses a converssion algorithm wich is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream.
Anyone has a clue? plz help

blackxeon Guest | Just use ConvertXtoDVD by VSO Software. The Program has built in support for MKV files and can encode into standard DVD-5 or DVD-9.
Download the trial copy and buy the registration code. It is well worth the investment with compatibility to multiple formats and free updates.

They bring these releases out so that they can share them with others in the community.

Victor205 Guest | I found a program that it would work its called ConvertXtoDVD and it support mkv
Info:

ConvertXtoDVD is a video converter software to convert and burn your videos to DVD. With ConvertXtoDVD and a few clicks you can backup your movies to DVD playable on any home DVD player.
ConvertXtoDVD supports most popular formats such as AVI to DVD; Mpeg, Mpeg, Mpeg4, MP4, VOB, WMV, DV and stream formats to DVD. It converts your files into a compliant DVD Video set of files and burns it on a DVD media. The ConvertXtoDvd does not need an external AVI codec download. It uses its own AVI codecs.
Looking for free video converter software? ConvertXtoDVD is free video converter evaluation software - a small payment and you no longer have the VSO watermark on the video output.
The aspect ratio can be automatically selected or forced to a specific format. The program works for NTSC and PAL video formats and creates chapters automatically. Multiple audio tracks are supported. Version 2 uses a completely rewritten interface with subtitles support and a lot of new settings.
VSO ConvertXtoDVD is neither affiliated with, nor using technology from Divx Networks!

Andre3000 Guest | Okay, so I have been reading this thread for a bit, and trying several recommendations. Guys, for the least amount of headache, as someone recommended somewhere in this long thread, download and install the program “Super”. Its free, and can be found at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
Trust me, its way better that that other program Matrosky. Cause if you go that route, it requires two additional programs(an extracter and merger). Super does everything for you.
Also, I tried WinAvi, but the problem was that it didnt copy the audio.
Super takes some time to convert, but it works
Also, be prepared that this converting will take some considerable time. The only thing I didnt check in Super is whether or not it will copy subtitles as well.

J. Guest | Hi people. I didn’t really read the entire topic, it’s 215 posts long already...
I tried to burn a DVD with a Matroska video and it burnt supposedly successfully, but, when I go watch the burnt video, it is 10-15min shorter. Is it usual? Is it really needed to convert it to an AVI file to burn the video complete?
Thanks in advance.
