Drifter88 Guest | I’ve been trying to play some hdtv.lol avi files, the sound works, BUT the picture is very jumpy. I’m using Media Player 10, and I do have the Xvid codec installed. I’ve tried playing the file in winamp, and in Divx, and I get the same result. Is this some sort of problem on my end, or is it the encoded file?

ash Guest | I used to have the same problem before, it usually happens when you download some sort of codec pack and you have no idea whats causing the problem because you don’t know what are the codecs installed. But here is what I did, look for a codec that is named ligos, once you find it delete it from your computer. That was the trick for me, as far as I know. Ligos has a tendency to update itself while the video is running and hence causing the jerkiness. I hope this works for you guys. Peace

Wesley Guest | I had some kind of video wash trying to play the avi’s too. It was terrible. I read this thread and installed ffdshow (I selected all the check boxes during installation ,like a dope). Then I had no video and no sound. So, I uninstalled ffdshow using its unistaller and bada-bing! the videos now play great. I was amazed at the quality of the hdtv capture as opposed to the old 450 mb mpeg tv rip I used to watch. Warp factor Five! Indeed.

Neogeek Guest | Hi,
I was able to watch .hdtv.avi files on my desktop but I could not do the same for my laptop.
I remembered that I recently downloaded the XVID codec for my desktop.
I did the same for my laptop and it work just fine.
You can download the codex at this website: http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/
I hope it works. Good luck!
