DJQureshi Guest | Hi Guys i had same kinda problem, i made a movie with my digital cam and tranferred to pc to edit. It said AVI but i was not able to play it in windows media player, but it worked in VLC, but since i was going to edit the movie none of my movie editting software imported the file either. THEN i got WinAVI wich basically is a video converting software and for burning movie files. I imported my AVI file and converted it to and AVI, might sound weird but it really worked Wohooooo..

Software engineer Guest | For those who dont understand just go to www.microsoft.com
Then go to codec etc,,,
You will find the last update , download that one because most of the movies in avi file are avaiable at the dvix

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 07 Nov 2007 Posts: 1 OFFLINE | Hi, I just downloaded a video and I can’t watch it. It says that I need an additional video decoder as the file contains an unknown format(code”" format and that I need to install a DirectShow decoder.
I’ve downloaded all the latest codecs but I can’t find the right DirectShow Decoder.
Please help!
Thank you.

jay35653 Guest | recently, like uesterday, downloaded, Beowulf 2007 screener. it was named as an avi but no go withe my klite codec pack full, newest release.
Uponm further investigation, I fund that I would need Divo codec, which was loaded with popup crap, there was also a player that was required . non of my attemps were successful.
I(t is now in torrent hell with the rest of the problematic files I have dwnloaded over the years.
If I am wrong please set me straight; but not too straight?!!

DiggityDoggie Guest | muahaha! I figured out the gom player choppiness problem. Right click the screen, Goto preferences, click the video tab on the left, under output type switch it to system default settings. By default it recommends overlay mixer which was causing the choppiness for me. Just to make sure I switched it back to overlay mixer and it got choppy again, I put it back to system default setting and it went away forever!

ehzfridon Guest | Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

connect Guest | Breaking news:
I used Gspot. it said my file was Xvid iso mpeg34.
i went to google and downloaded it. now the avi file
plays
My unsuccesfull steps:
I first installed K-lite coded pack newest version. video played but jerky and out of sync audio.
i went through info on google. found gspot and came to know exactly what my filetype was
then i searched for that codec which GSPot mentioned.
PROBLEM OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

connect Guest | PLs use gspot to identify the exact codec used by the one who made the video. Gspot will tell u if the codec is missing in the system. copy the missing codec (audio or video) and search in google.
donwnload that codec and play that file in all players u have. watch movie in which it is played best that is without jerky video and out of sync audio.
