Adobe Media Encoder - MPEG-1 Error

When running Canopus AVIs through the Adobe Media Encoder a consistent error is generated in the resultant MPEG. Using “MPEG1” for the Format setting and “NTSC MPEG-1 Generic” for the Preset the top 20 pixels (give or take) of the rendered MPEG are significantly darker than the rest of MPEG. IF anybody has any experience with this sort of error, please let me know how you fixed it or worked around it. Thanks.
