Ar Guest | Seems Nvidia drivers and the settings is causing green screen while playing video using mplayer/windows media player 9.x+, VLC, Zoom and many more, not experienced with QuickTime though.
There is default bogus values on the Edge enhancement and Noise reduction options. setting these values using the Nvidia Control Panel->Video&television->Adjust Video Color Settings->Enhancements - to anything but 0 (zero) will solve many green screen problems on Nvidia cards.
It doesnt matter how many codecs you try if these settings isnt set correctly.
Just set some value to the Edge enhancement and Noise Reduction.

Ar Guest | Update: Nevermind the Nvidia thing. It was the Asus Splendid Enhancement that screwed it up. Just disable it and it will work fine.
properties->settings->advanced->Asus->Asus Splendid
and uncheck the checkbox.
