Jona Guest | Hmm seems no one has had no problems ever since that last comment in novermber. well i use super dvd creator 8.5 and well when I convert them from avi files it goes pretty fast 82 fps ( i think dats fast) and when i try to play them the audio hurts my ear and i hear a chipmunkish terror, anyway I burn them to my dvd/svcd and the audio comes out playing way early but not crazy like i described. I also have nero by the way maybe i should try burning it with nero instead. But since i have the ultra edition i have no clue where to begin...?

bh Guest | Wasted a whole day burning DVD’s on Nero from mini DV only to find they they have a growing sound lag as the disk goes on.
Re-burned directly to disk vs hard drive then to disc through Sonic’s DVD burner and I got a good sound an a clearer video, in my opinion.
Will have to see how recopying goes.
Not a big nero fan at this point.

cardude19571 Guest | This is a major problem. The only reason I got nero was to use the DVD feature because it can create a menu, and it seems to be the best one at doing that. But it has a problem with all AVI files, large and small for me. I know the problem is not my burner or my compter because I have a dual P4 3.0Ghz w/ 1.5GB of RAM, and I set nero to use all system resources. Usually what I do is use another program to convert the AVI to MPG and then burn with nero, but it’s a pain in the a$$ and very time consuming. Any really quick, good ideas?

Jack Guest | Hi there,
I have a similar but slightly different problem: I captured a vhs movie to avi file (uncompressed - rgb555 640-480, 22Khz, 16b, mono sound). Came up, after a lot trouble, with a 100 Gb avi file, which is still not enough for the movie. I still lack 10 minutes of recording, but allright, ill figure that out. However, if i play it with windows media player, it starts with a little soundlag, increasing over the 2 hours to about 1 to 2 secs. This is raw data and i wonder how thats possible. Frame loss maybe? And how do i correct this?
(after converting to dvd with avs, it stays the same)
wkr,
Jack

Wannabe Rep: 0 Joined: 29 Mar 2006 Posts: 51 OFFLINE | I’ve used WinAVI video converter for a long time.
It works very well at all times. So i want to commend it.It can convert all video formats to AVI/WMV/RM/ASF/Divx/Xvid. A powerful AV compress engine can complete a whole AVI movie conversion and burn it to DVD just in 1 hour. You can enjoy the film with your home & PC DVD Player.
You can know it from this:

annie26 Guest | me too i had the same problem.
my friend gave me a software to go with nero “ultra 7”
the program is winavi video converter.
u have to open that program click on the button that says dvd.
it should convert it. put the file somewhere u will know where to find in the computer.
then go to nero
click on photo/video make sure that the button on top says dvd...
now click on recode dvd-video that takes a few minutes..
now “still in the file photo/video “click on make ur own dvd video..
this take few minutes... and now u can u can burn ur video with no audio delay..
it works i just try it in my dvd player..
good luck..

Treibeis Guest | Beleive it or not i just called Windows Support and they answered the question for me.
the Codec for the burning software is not functioning correctly you have to re-install your codec files and this will fix the issue.
Of course i am about to try and find an updated copy of the codec files which will be the next challenge but i will post what my results are.

Please can anyone tell me how to solve this problem.
I am converting and burning .avi files to DVD using Nero but most are turning out with audio lag of around 1 second. This is most annoying as it makes the movies look like japanese dubbed films. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone offer a solution please ?
Codecs seem fine I have all the usual codecs and the Nimo Lite Pack installed. I am running an Athlon 64 3.0ghz processor with bags of memory. Sound is taken care of by a SB Live.
Any ideas ?

VideoBOB Guest | I used to get the same problem all the time, with the poor audio synch. Then I found out that most avi’s audio tracks are encoded as variable bitrate. That’s okay for playing on your computer, for reasons mentioned previously, but the best solution is to change the audio to constant bitrate. I use MediaCoder to extract the audio track as a wave file, then VirtualDub to recode the audio/video back into a new avi file. This fixes most synch problems. Sometimes you have to tweak it a bit more by varying the delay anywhere from 125ms - 200ms.

Taskmaster Guest | Found this purported fix for Nerovision avi transcoding problems on a forum.
“A further development and an easier/ quicker fix:-
Updated to Nero 7 v7.7.5.1. Lipsync issues when playing .avi files in Nero Showtime and when using Nero to make DVDs from .avis. Problem only when .avis encoded with xvid, not with divx. All .avis playing perfectly in Windows Media Player and PowerDVD.
Solution:-
Disable Nero’s own codecs which forces the prog to use the system codecs:
In C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter, rename NeAudio2.ax to OLDNeAudio2.ax and rename NeVideo.ax to OLDNeVideo.ax.
If you ever need to reverse the changes for any reason just rename the two files to what they were."
======================
The file rename approach did work for me. Though on my system the original files were NeAudio.ax and NeVideo.ax (ie no '2'). I use Nero 6.6.1.15 with Nero Vision Express 3. on Windows XP, DivX 6.
I had a mix of divx and xvid video files I was converting to DVD using Nero. The dixv were fine but all the xvids had audio sync issues (about a 2 to 3 second delay). The one’s I’ve redone since the file rename seem to be fine, at least so far.
