mariposa Guest | I used a decoder that works and i can play mod videos in windows media player and I rename the extension from MOD to MPEG but I can’t load up to YOU TUBE, Do I have to resize it? or What I have to do??
HELP MEEEEE

What’s odd is the youtube site says it accept MPEG videos... I guess they meant MPEG-1 only?
Obviously you’ll have to convert the file to a format youtube can read. You have several options.
- You can use VirtualDub-MPEG-2 here to convert to AVI. Open your file in VirtualDub-MPEG-2. Click Video, Compression, and pick a codec (very important step - otherwise it will save as uncompressed and your file will be humongous). You may want to click advanced to adjust quality settings for the codec. If you want to resize the video, pick video, filters, resize. You can also adjust the frame rate by picking video, frame rate (second section: convert to fps). Anyway when you’re done making your adjustments, pick file, save as avi and you’re done. If you’re not sure what codec to pick, check out this page (they recommend xvid or divx).
- You can use TMPGEnc free version here (after you select your language, the download button is at the top of the page) to convert to MPEG-1. You should already be able to play MPEG-2 files by now, but if not, get the GPL MPEG-1/2 DirectShow Decoder Filter. When you open your file in TMPGEnc you can skip the wizard. Drag and drop your video onto the TMPGEnc window. If you don’t see video, go to option, environmental setting, VFAPI plug-in, and right click the DirectShow multimedia file reader and increase its priority until it is above everything else, then re-open the video. On the front page, click settings and make sure you’re encoding into MPEG-1. You can adjust size, frame rate, etc. to your liking on that page. I’d also recommend anything other than constant bitrate (constant quality for example) - and click settings next to it to adjust the quality. When you’re all done, on the main page, click start.
- You can convert to WMV using Windows Media Encoder. You may need the GPL MPEG-1/2 DirectShow Decoder Filter if the MPEG-2 files don’t open in WME.

Okay...exactly how did you do this, because I’ve been trying for hours now using the Everio we borrowed from friends. We don’t have the software that came with the Everio...is that the problem? Because I’m thinking we didn’t need the software if we were only trying to upload directly to YouTube. I’ve got the Everio set on play back mode, screen closed, and I’m trying to upload the file using the file info I got directly from the Everio...it has the .MOD format. The clip is exactly 2 mins. 30 secs. long...I can’t image it would take upwards or 30 mins to upload...yet thats what YouTube is still trying to do. No compatibility error messages yet.
