Baires2005 Guest | 4.3 No picture, I get no video when playing DivX movies
This error occurs when you try to watch a movie and the video player you are using is unable to find the needed video codec. You might be able to listen to the sound but no video is shown. Fortunately, there is an easy way to fix this problem. All AVI-files contain a FOURCC code in the header of the file, which can be used to identify the video codec required to play the movie.
To find out which video codec you are missing you should download GSpot and open the movie you are having problems playing. The program will give you information about what codecs are needed to play the movie and if you have them installed on your computer. If you look under the video format section you will see information about the video stream. If you don’t have a compatible video codec installed you should be able to use the FOURCC codec to find and download the needed video codec in the following list:
FOURCC Video codec
DIV3 DivX codec
DIV4 DivX codec
DIVX DivX codec
DX50
DivX codec
XVID
XviD codec
MP43
SMR codec
Please note that there doesn’t exist any video codec that uses the FOURCC code 0. If you’ve downloaded a movie with the FOURCC code 0 it’s either fake or corrupt and you won’t be able to watch it.

Paresh P Guest | even i have problems playing an avi...
first, it played to some extent in divx player, but not completely, got terminated well before timeline ended...
gspot said i had four codecs that claim to be able to play it... however, gspot could not render it, and could offer no furthur help...
then, i downloaded latest ffdshow [2005-03-28] and installed it...
now, gspot wont run, it shows some error and cant initiate [application memory error]...
also, now divx player cant run the file either and instead shows a FOURCC CODE “XVID” Error...
after, 8-10 tries, gspot is now running, still unable to render with error 0x8004011 : [unknown]... and before closing, gspot crashes again!...
now, gspot recognises video codec to be od xvid and i have recent xvid package installed, also, i have the latest full package divx player...
Now i will be installing “Codecs6022_allin1 [latest is Codecs6026_allin1]”
... fingers crossed!...

Exodus119 Guest | Im getting the “fourcc code 0” error as well. Only with me I know without doubt that this is not a fake file. Years ago I bought the movies “Night of the livind dead” and “Lawnmower Man 2” on cdrom they are each 2 discs. They have their own installer to view them. I want to merge the two video files into one (on both movies). But cant get video.. only audio.. Though some say this file type does not exist or is fake is not true. The company called “Sirius” in the 80’s created these disks to run with such a codec..

savageinjun Guest | this is to the person who couldnt get the file off the comp due to the reason it is being"used by another person or program”...type 'unlocker' into the addy bar and you will get results back...unlocker is a program that duly unlocks that program from its locked state and then you will be able to delete the prog/file

novac Guest | for those guys getting errors when trying to delete certain video files, the issue is with conflicting avi versions, I uninstaled divx and updated to the most recent version and havn’t had a prob yet.
Or hunt down the offending dll file? Which I believe to be regsvr32.dll or simiar sounding name, just unreg’filenameprob'.dll from the run command. best luck.

giovanni Guest | 4.3 No picture, I get no video when playing DivX movies
In regards to the topic above, I found ffdshow working for me without glitches so far. I just downloaded it without altering its default settings. I’ll try to tweak around and see if it breaks.
The kind of movies that usually suffer this kind of problem are torrents recently ripped. The material is mostly from Europe but I can’t get the connection. I also found that having both DivX and Xvid properly registered with WM or other media player, same goes for DX9, it’s not enough. So who’s good enough to find what is the missing link? - not me...
Anyway, whatever kind of trick ffdshow does, it fills the gap, et voila'
THANK YOU EVERYONE | |

aditya Guest | I downloaded the ffdshow codec and all my divx movies were playing fine till now on my media player now this movie for which Divx says has multiple audio sources. I dont know why but the audio track skips and goes ahead and the aoudio track finishes well before the video track finishes 1 hour before in a 3 hour movie. can there be a udio track mismatch while ripping the dvd or can there be any other problem. g spot crashes as soon as i load the movie

GIOVANNI Guest | aditya,
I experienced a problem similar to yours. It was on a DIV3 Low-Motion encoded movie. I tried anything I could but the movie audio kept going out of sync after a few seconds.
I processed the whole movie with VirtualDub, re-encoding it in DivX5 and now the resulting movie plays just fine.
Another thing I experienced with audio going out of sync, has been with badly converted movies, usually a NTSC->PAL conversion without proper time conversion. In this case, an audio track made to play at 30fps needs to be re-processed to play at 25fps before multiplexing it with the video. If this pass is neglected, the resulting audio will be quite choppy.
Last but not least. Did you perform the DVD rip or did you find it already ripped?
There are several rips on the net which are purposedly bad.
I hope this helps. | |
